"Very cool place, with sunset, real sand and good eating. the music was good on a Monday evening and had exactly the right crowd for a cold evening drink. I heard it's in here too, but I love it for an evening drink. music was great too."

"I came here with friends for lunch, when passing through. It is the Swisshotel Le Plaza restaurant, so I expected it should be decent. Overall the service was very good, food was tasty and well cooked, while the venue was well lit, open and relaxing. I guess the prices were OK too, considering this is Switzerland. We all had 1 main, water coffees. My main was a gourmet burger, while my friends had sirloin steak or burgers too. The burgers were CHF 29, the sirloin CHF 49, while coffees were CHF 5 each and water CHF each (33cl). The overall bill came to roughly CHF 220 for 4 people. I would definitely give it another go."

"Was here in August with friends and family. Food was brillant, I dare say 5 pluds, service to die for. All staff paid attention to detail. Perhaps this was because my friend made the reservation, is a premium customer that orders regularly and the restaurant makes deliveries even though that was not their custom.... get my drift?Fast forward to October, I made the reservation as it was my birthday. Service was good but no way what we experienced in August. Food, just okish. Given this, I am inclined to agree with other reviewers that the food is overpriced.There has been no change in management. Given this, will definitely not be returning.Consistency is EVERYTHING!"

"The food is very tasteful and I can see it was a very old and traditional place. But the woman who serviced us was really in a bad mood I guess, we felt even scary to order and ask. All the other people there are really nice and friendly. We ordered 3 portions Fondue for 4 girls and 1 extra cheese plate. It is also pretty enough. The food is expensive but in a acceptable range, plus another bottle of water we spent 145 for 4 people."

"This is fine dining at Swiss prices but forget the cost and enjoy exceptional food and impeccable service. It was a perfect evening before starting out on a bike trip down the Rhine. My wife had a deconstructed gezpaccho and shrimp risotto. I had a perfect dish of fresh goat cheese and fig ravioli in a cream sauce and rack of lamb. We had a very nice rose to go with the meal. All dishes come in small or large plates. A great place to dine in Basel."
