"Had the Jasmine lemonade with and the pimento cheese tea sandwich with tomato soup. Excellent and friendly service, tasty food, relaxed atmosphere. Treated myself to a chai tea and candied ginger scone for dessert. They're both amazing! Would highly recommend this for a chill date, or a place to relax. Allergy aware with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options!!!"

"Went for the Mother's Day and a little disappointed in comparison to visit others. slow, overpriced cold pastries (board was more expensive for vacation.) normal culinary experiences were much better. I think they had a hard time to treat the larger quantities on holiday."

"This place finds 1st place for best drip coffee in austin. I'm not sure if they're drilling or the love for detail, but they can really enjoy a black coffee here. the location is also excellent. they do not know to drive with the car, but the backyard terrace with view of the bach is a secret surprise for visitors who hope to see the busy road near the front."

"Very good brunch. Had the spinach benedict very well done. GF had the chicken salad, which was excellent We had a problem with an OpenTable gift cert, which was partially my fault for not doing due diligence, but the manager (black hair with beard/mustache didn't catch his name) was really gracious, giving us some coffee and pastries as a bit of compensation. Really appreciated that! (Russell's cinnamon bun/muffin thing is definitely the best around"

"I've been asked many times about where one should get coffee, so I've made it an effort to try more spots. I recently came to Monkey Nest and damn, they have a good selection of specialty coffees to choose from! I got the: Wildflower Lavender Latte: wildflower honey and lavender latte. For the person who likes something more herbal and light, this is for you! I'm not the biggest lavender enthusiast, but it was done nice and balanced here. $4.99 for large) 4/5 Monkey's Uncle: peanut butter, chocolate, and banana. Imagine a chocolate dipped banana, but in coffee form! That's what this tasted like and damn it is SO GOOD!! The banana isn't artificial tasting either, so no worries there. This easily is one of my new favorite coffees in town! Must try!! $4.99 for large) 4.75/5 All in all, I am very satisfied with Monkey Nest. I'm a sweet drinker, so I'm highly satisfied with the vast amount of specialty coffees to choose from. I will definitely be back soon to try more! With all that said, I give them a 4.5/5 for being amazing!"

"Moved to Austin from Hawaii and was looking to see if there was a Polynesian community here. If there is, they aren’t at this joint.Super chill vibe, but lots of “hipsters” (idk if that term is still used) and others looking to get smashed off kava. Common to hear “chug that mud water” among other phrases. Had a group of college students there to “experiment”. I wish they had some education materials on what kava is and what it does to your body. Not your usual substance to abuse.The kava tasted fine, it’s instant, but didn’t deliver the punch I’m used to. I use dried kava in a Tanoa so maybe I’m biased.The space is great. Lots of outdoor seating and a fire pit. Staff is cool but tend to mingle with the regulars instead of new comers.All in all, cool spot, nice layout, chill vibe,Instant kava, all you need for a good time but not my cup of proverbial tea."
