"Why was I surprised? We'd been staying at the Rydges Hotel, and we hadn't been too impressed - service had been pretty average and the rooms were well past pensionable age - so it was with some reluctance that we found ourselves eating in the attached restaurant. Particularly as they were hosting a wedding reception at the same time, we were expecting the worst. (So why were we eating here at all? That's another story.)We sat at a high table on stools overlooking the esplanade and the ocean beyond. I ordered a fillet steak, and my wife had the salmon. Service was prompt, polite and efficient- the food arrived quickly, was attractively presented and perfectly cooked. We had a most enjoyable meal. Whilst the hotel itself had demonstrated all the signs of management asleep at the wheel, the malaise hadn't seemed to have spread to Drift. Full marks - surprisingly."

"While it appeared that the buffet was the main attraction for most people, we are always more inclined to eat off the a-la-carte menu. Granted it was a busy Thursday night before the Easter weekend, but service was a bit slow. The food was fine, and rather plentiful, there was a kids menu available, and they were happy to substitute fries with vegetable, but It was pretty noisy with a number of large groups booked in."

"Used to come here last year, think the service is still friendly, however menu has slipped. Had a pulled pork tortilla was VERY DRY! did not come with a sauce/dressing. The filling was mostly cabbage, with strong ginger and coriander ( which I don't like) flavours. hard to eat as filling was too large for wrapper. Kombucha was nice. Sweet potato chips were decent. air conditioning not working. probably wont eat here again."
