"Best coffee in town. Pastries light and fresh fruits. Bread reminds me of Paris. Salmon on bagel was enough for two. Fast service."

"What a find. Fantastic place for adults and kids alike. 45 flavours of ice cream and/or sorbet to choose from with over 30 flavours always on display. We had the tasting trays 6 generous samples of your choice for only $9.50. Can't wait to get back there"

"Dropped by for a coffee passing through and the service was amazing! Such lovely people with genuine interest and a homely feel to them. My boyfriend and I were on the look out for opshops in the Wairarapa and staff were kind enough to let us know of all the ones around along with directions. Coffees were great too, coming from being picky baristas ourselves, props to these guys! Definitely gonna make this our go-to spot on trips through and try out the food next time round for sure!"

"Marginal food and bad service. We went there yesterday on our way through Greytown to get some lunch. Since it was a holiday (January 2nd , the place was busy with only a few tables left. The coffee arrived relatively quickly, but we waited for 55 minutes before we got our food. By this time the cafe had all but emptied and apart from two other tables everybody else had left. The quality of the food was marginal the first time my daughter refused to eat fish and chips. As a family of four we were planning to share the meals around and asked specifically about serving sizes when we ordered. Fish and chips doesn 't exactly call for expensive ingredients, so when we were told that the serving size was substantial and good enough for sharing we took their word for it. Unfortunately, two small pieces of fish and (literally! two dozen chips doesn 't count as a substantial serving in my book. In the end we ended up feeding the biscuits we had with us to the kids as lunch. What I found especially grating during this visit was the fact that another couple ordered right before us and were served much quicker (they had long left when we got our food . They were greeted personally by the proprietor and when their food hadn 't arrived after a while, he personally came to their table to apologise for the wait and ordered them complimentary drinks to make for it. We received no attention at all during our wait for the food just dirty looks from the staff when we dared to ask how much longer it would take after having waited for 45 minutes. Needless to say that everybody stayed away from us after dropping the food on our table after another 10 minute wait completely forgetting that there wasn 't enough cutlery for everybody. I can see how this place runs their business: They keep the locals happy by giving them special treatment and rip off travellers who won 't return no matter how bad the service."

"We ducked into The White Swan, Greytown for food, at the recommendation of Julie at Cobblestones Museum! So glad we did!! We met Dan as soon as we walked in who was extremely friendly, and gave a us a menu to browse. We then met Jaime, who was so sweet, had a chat with us about the local area, other things we should try out. We went away to have a look at other places around Greytown, always watching the pennies! We came straight back to The White Swan! We had the Life Boat Burger and the Greytown Winter Harvest Bowl. Both beautifully presented, prompt, but not too prompt, and sooo yummy!! The beef, better than Fergburg down in Queenstown!!!! We had the best time. We must mention Jaime again, she was so friendly, so informative, so professional and so easy to talk to about the food and other bits. They've really got a good thing going on here, highly, highly recommend! Really want to come back!! Thanks team!! @saltyskin"

"Having recently reopened after a refurb thought I would stop in for lunch on my through. On arrival I was warmly greeted by the friendly staff who looked to be run off their feet, headed for a table in the sun out the back. Was served promptly and ordered a soy latte and the corn fritters with bacon. The coffee came quickly and was very good, my fritters were well cooked and seasoned just so. The chutney served with them was excellent. All in all I would go back however wasn't a knock out"

"A so beautiful place to go in the small town greytown, no vegan restaurants expected, but the shop front girl was quite rude as we did not know that it was a (vegan restaurant) and she has us very rude when we asked and it was very confusing to not only have menus at the front of the counter, and we did not know whether the back was connected to the eating garden. but the chefs were beautiful and eating was fantastically made for them!"

"Cuckoo has a long and important place in greytowns culinary scene. Prior to being cuckoo it was a special cafe which was going to be a hard act to follow. The young first owners set the pizza menu, nicely giving each type a bird name, and creating what was clearly the best pizzas (as well as pasta) in the region. When the second owners took over we held our breath would they get rid of the old favourites fortunately they didn't sensible but instead added cheesecakes as well! I'm not sure as to the sense but I'm sure some people like cheesecake personally I loath the creatures.
Recently under third ownership and now with the old villa hemmed in by a newly built real estate agents, the breath holding occurred again. And once more the pizzas with the ornithological names remain safe.
Service is good, relaxed and friendly. The beer list is getting better with each owner. The pizzas are the same if not better. My favorite has always been the albatross a rare smoked fish pizza that I sometimes recreate at home. Blackbird is also delicious. The potato pizza last time I had it could do with a little more salt or preferably capers and anchovies otherwise it can be a bit bland. The new owners may have adjusted that however.
The restaurant is in a rumpty old student villa that could have been shipped up from the Dunedin campus. Highly recommended for the pizzas."

"It was really nice, chill vibe and good food. I'd just say they're a bit overpriced for what they are and there aren't many affordable options."
