"Just five minutes walk from the train station, the Marmotte is worth a visit if you are in the mood for some solid baked fare. The bakery sells excellent home made bread (I especially like their Mütschli i.e. crispy white rolls), but you also have a choice of cheesy Swiss meals (Chässchnitte and the like), sandwiches, pies and a rather affordable lunch deal, all served in their sunny and bright tea room by an efficient and generally friendly staff.If you are there by yourself, there is always loads of reading material lying around, or you can just enjoy the view of the mountains."

"Rien n'a changé, la patronne toujours aussi malhonnêtes et méchante.Je vous déconseille d'aller dans cette établissement. Les chats traîne dans la cuisine et derrière le buffet. Les rösti son cuit deux semaines à l'avance et le tartes son encore gelé à l'intérieur.Brefs : vraiment dégueulasse...Il est temps que le service d'hygiène passe."

"Zum wiederholten mal verbrachten wir hier einen wunderschönen Abend. Das Restaurant ist stilvoll eingerichtet und das Personal aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Das Chateaubriand einmal mehr auf den Punkt gebracht und garniert mit diversen perfekt zubereiteten Gemüse Variationen. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder!"

"Very pleasant hotel and a friendly welcome. Currently being refurbished so bar and restaurant out of action but breakfast was fine. Comfortable rooms, nothing special but fine for the price."

"We have recently completed a three week rail trip around Switzerland, and this has to be the best value restaurant we came across. Their special of two generous pork schnitzels, chips and a medley of vegetables, all beautiful cooked, for CHF18 might sound quite a lot for those not used to Swiss prices but, believe me, most other places we found were charging CHF 30 and more for their main courses. The staff were very friendly and, needless to say, we ate there on each of the three nights we stayed in Kandersteg."
