"I grew up in Maysville, so I was familiar with Magees's when it was on Market Street. Saturdays were a treat because it meant a trip to the city in the library and a stop at the Bakery for a transparent pudding or cream horn. Now I've grown and live in Nashville, Tenn, but a visit to Maysville still includes a stop in Magee's Bakery. The bakery can have moved, but neither the quality nor the taste have diminished least. It seems that transparent puddings or tarts are still a regional thing as I can find them nowhere else, but they are known all over the world, partly due to George Clooney's love for this rich dessert. He grew up in the area, and he is known in an order for shipping to one of his houses or the location of his latest movie for a small taste of home. I think they are also for me and a little taste of home."
