"On y vient par curiosité... puis on y retourne pour la terrasse ombragée ou l'intérieur zen mais plus encore pour la patronne au service... toujours souriante et pour la carte au très bon rapport qualité/prix... grâce au patron. Mon ami adore le steak/frites et surtout les desserts maison. Pour ma part, j'ai une préférence pour le risotto au chorizo ou la pizza. et la cerise sur le gâteau... le restaurant est ouvert le dimanche !"

"Pont de Vaux may not be a tourist town in itself though its a good place to stop if you are boating on the Saone, or on your way South by car. It boasts several OK ish restaurants but the one to head for is the excellent Hotel du Commerce. It may sound like the rundown haunt of commercial travelers, and perhaps once it was, but now its formal, slightly old fashioned dining room serves elegant and tasty meals to both locals and holiday makers passing through and commercial travelers too no doubt! The man in the kitchen has interesting ways of presenting Burgundy favourites: the snails come in ravioli served with a light garlic and parsley foam. A dish of scallops with riz de veau might sound odd but I can testify to its deliciousness. Excellent cheeseboard and lovely light puds every course was consistently first rate and the whole meal excellent value. Good, carefully chosen and well priced local wines try the delicious Gérald Talmard from Uchizy, a village just down the road. As important to me as the food and wine is the quality of service. At the Hotel du Commerce the perfect balance prevails cheerful friendliness coupled with professionalism. I'm so glad I'm a local!"

"A perfect Christmas! A very friendly welcome, a very comfortable setting, servers up. The dishes that are more sublime than others, with great precision of cooking, balance and seasoning. Originality and good products. A very good adaptation for the team that we have nevertheless bothered with changes in the dishes... and yet always with a smile. We cannot be excited and of course recommend. We will come back with great pleasure. Thank you."
