"Great staff and place to just relax or to study. It's location is also an advantage for many students. The coffee is as always standart Starbucks quality which I find unsatisfactory."

"I grabbed a soy latte here the other day and it was surprisingly good. Cute cafe and looks like they serve lots of homemade food items. Seems a bit overpriced but I just came back from living in Asia for the last year so I think everything feels expensive to me! I also came in to order holding my 7lb yorkie dog in my hand and it was not a problem. BC feels very dog friendly and I'm loving it! There even had doggie treats at the counter where you grab your coffee so that was great! :"

"Far more a Deli shop than a café as no seating available. Often very lined up with loyal customers who consider their meat offerings (home made/cured hams, numerous types of sausage rings) the finest in the area, Not unusual to wait 5-10 minutes for your...turn. The family run deli and service personnel are always polite. You are permitted to taste a product prior to deciding. We have been repeat customers for years and highly recommend many of the meat products."

"That's a bar, looks like it's the point. service was good, good selection of drinks but on the expensive side. Eat is not recommended, it is on the class 8 home ec level. margherita pizza was like Pillsbury...crown rolls flattered a bit, with tomato sauce, cheese and with dried basilikum had given away some spices in it. average. in any case will not come back!"

"Just happened to stop into this little quaint hideaway in Newport Village for lunch this past Sunday. Kind of expecting not a great experience but right away the staff great you with friendly smiles. Nice calm Japanese atmosphere with soft jazz playing in the background. They gave us a booth which was nice but my wife wanted a table setting so they moved us no problem. Got green tea right away. Basic standard sushi menu, Johnny ordered a box lunch, udon veggie soup, tempura veggies and shrimp one California roll Japanese radishes. Wife ordered a couple of the usual rolls. I ordered Beef teriyaki roll, Yam Tempura roll and thought I would try the Cali Fry roll and Peanut Butter Crunch roll. They brought us a free appy of cabbage salad with a really nice vinaigrette dressing. Short wait for the food to come, they kept our tea topped up. When the food came it was one of those "WTF did I order" moments! Massive amount of food. Johnny enjoyed all his grub and wife was happy with hers. The Beef rolls were ok, nothing special just predictable. Good. The Yam Tempura was very good, maybe awesome!. The Peanut Butter rolls were very good, very rich and crunchy, loved it! But the Cali Fry rolls were totally to die for. If nothing else I would go back just for the Cali Fry. Seriously I could have had three or four rolls they were that good. Had to share with wife and she feels the same as I do We will go back and we will have Cali Fry rolls and Yam Tempura. And again very nice staff to see you out the door. Thanks you Nagano for a wonderful lunch in a lovely atmosphere. Great now I am hungry again!"

"We came here for Dine-out Vancouver earlier this year and enjoyed it so decided to return for our Wedding Anniversary. What a disappointment! After 30 min the manager (assumed as she was not in uniform nor identified herself) told me that they were out of the grilled cod that I ordered. So it took another 20 min for them to bring me a halibut dish in its place. It took 45 min for our fish tacos appetizer and 45 min for the chicken strips my niece ordered from the kids menu! Our 2 year old son was getting restless sitting for so long so I ordered a small bowl of rice for him, telling them to please bring it asap...and had to ask 3 times! And this was at 8 pm on a Wed night when the restaurant was not overly busy! The last time we've waited this long for service was at a Malaysian restaurant 2 years ago during Dine-out. But there the manager was extremely apologetic and the server incredibly amiable, so we've returned multiple and have never had a problem. Boathouse was in stark contrast. The service was so consistently bad they appeared to give up serving us anything within a reasonable time frame. It was clear that we needed to leave with 3 kids and running well past 9 pm, yet they still took 15 min to serve the ice cream pie as part of the 3 course meal, and only after I asked them to take it to go. My wife was apologetic for making such a bad selection to celebrate our Anniversary. But she shouldn't be the one to apologize. Considering the overall rating of this place, it appears the Boathouse should be doing the apologies...to a number of dissatisfied clients. For a restaurant of this caliber in North America, it's unacceptable. While the food was good and they didn't charge for my meal, it was little compensation for such pathetically bad service. I would typically tip 15% or more for a place like this; instead I left a 3% tip to send a message. Now I regret even leaving that much. It was the worst service I've experienced in over 20 years anywhere in the world!"

"We had dinner here before gathering upstairs for a birthday party. The place is very nice inside and very busy on the Saturday night we went there. The food was decent enough but not something you would rave about.Service was very good. Parking at the...parkade across the street was convinient with the first 90 minutes free and the pub adding on an extra 90 minutes when asked for."
