"I stumbled upon Estrella while looking for grilled octopus at another seafood restaurant. Google maps directed me to what looked like a dark lot with a locked gate. Never a good sign. Kept walking to what KI thought miight be Rustica. No luck, but I...found a small restaurant that directed me to their next door neighbor, Estrella de Mar Mariscos. I was the only one there but that didn't stop them. The owner guided me to the exact pulpo (octopus) entree grilled and fresh cocnut water, right from the coconut. All ourdoor seating under a protective roof. Husband, wife and six year old daughter were gracious hosts. As I got up to leave I noticed the cook was jamming on a metal pot to a latin song on the sound system. I went to the service window and accompanied him with a bass (tumba) conga beat on the wooden serving shelf. Great fun, great food, great family."

"While shopping at the little store that sells the Day of the Dead figurines, my son was yearning for a carnitas taco. He asked the shopkeeper where to get the best in town, and was directed to a tiny place right across the street. At Carnitas Prietos, they've been making carnitas for 3 generations. They have to be outstanding, right?The restaurant settings were somewhat spartan, with just a few tables inside and a few on the sidewalk. The only meat they have on display is in a warming box. Carnitas are sections of slow roasted, tender pork that are then fried until crispy. We ordered a few tacos served on small, fresh hand-pressed tortillas.These were possibly the best carnitas tacos we’ve ever had. Full of roasted pork fla-vor and unctuous rich fat (without being greasy) they were perfectly balanced with offerings of pickled red onion, an avocado salsa that's mild and creamy, a hotter salsa verde and plenty of fresh limes. We ended up placing another order immediately.Wow, can't say enough about how good these were."

"At the recommendation of a local shop owner, we picked up our morning coffee to go from this place. I am a straight up coffee drinker, no cream, no sugar. And I like my coffee on the strong, deep, flavorful side. This coffee did not disappoint! I ordered an americano and savored that cup! I have to say I was surprised to get this wonderful of a cup of coffee in this adorable little town! (Lived in Washington and Oregon...not that that makes me an aficionado but I've had a lot of different coffee beans and roasts and brews in my time).We also went up to the mountains of San sebastian where their original shop is and bought some to take home. Really wish I would have bought so more because I really enjoy their bean/roast so much! Try them out!"

"This restaurant was recommend from a local out of San Pancho. I love nothing more than getting recommendations from those that live in the area. Sadly this place missed the mark for me. It could have something to do with the delivery of "Farm Raised Talipa" that killed it for me. Maybe I was naive to think all fish was fresh in this area. With that said, Service was exceptional. Much better choices to eat in Sayulita!!"

"Nice wide open restaurant with very pleasant staff. Our chilaquiles verde were hot, fresh & tasty. The portion was huge, served with beef, chicken or plain and small serving of refried beans and white rice. The hand made coffee was super as was the fresh squeezed orange juice served over ice! These people aim to please and we would definitely recommend breakfast. They also deliver in the local area."
