"We went to go and see vater christmas on santa island just before christmas. wow, what an experience it was! truly magical, completely different from everything we had done before and much more than we had expected. we had booked on the line so that a check-in could not be easier, just a quick search for our name and we were in. everything was ordered very, with time slots for the journey over the sea, so after we observe our life vests and safety writing, we were helped in the boats and taken over to the island. we were there as it was dark so that the magie could appear through the darkness. as we approached the island, they could see numerous structures and eleven and other guests as well as the habitable gänse nicky. when we landed, we were hit by an eleven who helped us, and then helped us make roasted marshmallows and played some games and told some sweat. we then went to our first tip for Christmas history to tell, sat on scoops, which was fun with public participation. after that we made profitable food, played jenga and then looked for our wishful cube we wished earlier when we crossed the bridge over santa’s tipi. the eleven were all fantastic, with a cheeky naughty eleven dared and made unwell. santa was great to take time to talk to us, find out what the children had asked and then send us away with a signed copy of the stationery story as well as a gift. there was also an eleven for the complete family photo. we could then make photos on santas sled before the boot returns. everything in all it was just over an hour. we then dived into the alderford kitchen for a simple dinner in their beautiful kitchen restaurant. a magical experience for the children and an excellent value for the elders. Many thanks to the fact that they set this event to a time when we all need a little magic."

"We stayed at The Watership Down Inn for one night as we were visiting the Bombay Sapphire distillery for a tour and had booked dinner at the Inn later in the evening to celebrate our anniversary. Upon arrival we were shown to the room. with...no real instructions indications as to breakfast times (the exact words were maybe 8:30ish, maybe 9:30, we'll let you know We did ask for this later into the night at dinner, and again were told rough timings but warned that these may change. Upon arriving at dinner, we were shown to our table, the bar staff seemed to require further training as they were unaware of what Campari was, or how it should be served (my partner had to point the bottle out on the bar). There was one waiter in particular who did seem knowledgeable, however, and managed to make classic cocktails for the couple beside us clearly a great asset to the team! The meal itself was great, high quality ingredients and we felt reasonably priced (including a bottle of red). Smaller things during service, however, were missed our water glasses were filled once and once only, my plate was removed within mere seconds of my final mouthful, and despite having added that it was our anniversary to the booking, there was no recognition of this (Why ask The room itself was spacious, the bathroom was a great size and very beautiful. The surroundings were again absolutely stunning. We had a terrible nights sleep, however, as the fire escape light (and 3 other bright green spotlights) were on all night leading a path to the door and the double bed was clearly two mattresses combined, meaning the middle of the bed had a gap to fall into throughout the night. Breakfast service was delayed due to a power cut throughout the kitchen (again, cannot be helped and completely understandable given the circumstances) at breakfast we did mention a few of the above issues, and were offered no real compensation, hence this review. Overall we probably wouldn't stay again, as we felt that for £100+ a night we would be given a warmer welcome, and that some of the issues we raised could have been compensated for upon our departure (a drink or a snack on the house for example would have been a lovely gesture)."
