"This experience was disappointing overall, and if they were looking for a afternoon tee in the opposite, I would try something else. when we arrived, the table was beautifully set, but not clean. we waited long until first order our drinks, then be taken for our choice. both had age groups. the afternoon tea menu itself was kreatiw (that was probably the best part,) but the fruit-saving were flat unacceptable so, and I was taken back that they were even served. when I wanted more tee, it was not only difficult to get someone's attention what we were given at the end, was just a water up in the previously served pot! so no possibility to try something else, just an additional weak tee. if most other afternoon teas in london allow to try several tees, the sandwiches and skorn will refill, it is worth noting if you don't. I would have booked this as a birthday party to show my French family a little British tradition, quite frankly after that I would be surprised if they were willing to try something British again. I would notice at the reservation that it was a birthday party, why do they ask if they don't want to confirm it? we had so little service that I am not sure why we paid the service fee, it seemed to be inconvenient for the employees we were there, but for the majority of time we were the only table."

"We had the business lunch which was excellent value, for a large fillet steak and sides plus a glass of wine. The venue is beautiful and the staff were excellent. We would definitely go back, it was one of the best meals out I have had for a very long time"

"The occasion was in remembrance of my dad's birthday he passed last year. I chose the EB because of its proximity to Liverpool St station, as one of my relatives was coming up from Essex and we wanted somewhere close by.We were there for the 'Brunch Menu' not necessarily my favourite choice for a meal, but I didn't look very carefully when I booked, but we decided to make the best of it.First up was the 'shared starters' six starters to share between three.It was a varied selection, ranging from a bananayoghurt mix, to chorizoflavoured arroncini, a ginsoaked smoked salmon salad, and another salad of avocado and quinoa.They were nicely prepared and tasted OK but, looking at the selection, you could almost hear the chef saying, "what else shall we give them...?"Onto the mains; my wife had the steak and my uncle had the breakfast fryup special; I ordered the pulled BBQ pork hash with potatoes.These mains went down very well, although the portion of the fryup special was a bit too large.My wife loved her steak no mean praise, as she is very picky when it comes to steak and I have to say that the pulled pork hash was one of the best I have ever tasted.The dessert was a selection of soso patisserie. The items we had were fine, but also nothing to write home about.Regarding staff and ambience, the waiters and waitresses were polite, friendly and efficient exemplary, in fact.There was a shift change in the middle of our meal, but you would never know; the handover was seamless, which is quite a feat.It is a nice venue, a bit echoey at times, and you were very aware that it is really a hotel with a restaurant tacked onto it.This was reinforced by the prices, which I thought quite steep; the wine was expensive considering we only drank a fairly mediocre Sauvignon Blanc.In summary, I thought that EB was a bit of a 'business expense account' venue. It didn't have a lot of charm and, although the staff were sweet, I won't be returning"
