"We went last night for dinner for my son's birthday. There were two other families there and all three of us had a child with a birthday.The main reason to go to a teppanyaki restaurant like this is for the theatre and the experience. Unfortunately, my children spent the whole time with their backs to our grill watching the chef behind them, who was shooting flames into the air and getting them to clap rhythmically while he expertly threw egg into their mouths and bowls full of rice into their hands.Our chef barely spoke a word, was not good at cutting up the egg (part of the theatre), wasn't a good throw, and overcooked the fish.We paid as much or more for our meal as the family on the other table, yet I felt thoroughly disappointed with our experience.The staff need to reach a certain level before they are sent out in front of customers. We paid $70 per adult for a small amount of meat, vegies and rice and the only reason this is worth the money is if the chef makes you enjoy every moment. Ours certainly did not.When I expressed my disappointment to the waitress, she said quietly that she would tell her manager, and that was that. No apology, no offer of discount or anything."

"I'm fortunate to have eaten with the Meat & Wine Co a few times in various locations, but my recent experience at this new location was INCREDIBLE!Was in Melbourne for business with some very important clients and we were based in South Yarra so what better place to take clients to impress them?!Naturally the ambience was as per their other restaurants - a warm and inviting interior with comfortable chairs and good size tables. Menu is always plentiful with matching wine selections of equal quality.As you would expect, the Steak was truly exceptional, cooked to absolute perfection and so tasty, beautifully marbled and just enough rarity to hold the juices flavour.Staff were attentive and polite, wine superb. $1000 for 5 was cheap but there was a few wines in there - honestly this really is one of the best meals I have ever had! Absolutely 5 stars."

"Thank you to Trip Advisor, we located this new kid on the block! WOW! We thoroughly enjoyed everything we had and cannot wait to take our friends to experience in particular the crazy salmon roll, which blew us away, the California roll, the Mahi mahi roll,...the Kingfish miso and the squid ink bao, filled with prawns and avocado. There was a real buzz in the restaurant the service was efficient and courteous and we suggest that you book to ensure that you get a table! We noticed a few take away meals being collected, but these didn't affect the service being provided in the restaurant, which was a good sign."
