"Called to order a takeaway. The lady who answered the phone was very rude and not very helpful. Food was supposed to be delivered within 50 minutes. After 90 minutes I called and the rude lady answered and said the driver will call when he’s near. After 110 minutesthe driver called. The food was cold. Would not recommend this company."

"This place has positive reviews, so I can only assume they struggle with the busier summer season and standards slip. Despite the places with lovely sea views offering vegan menus, we chose Gianni's, on a back street in town, due to the reviews. We tried to book ahead but the line was engaged (5 times), so we instead tried walking in for an early meal at 6pm. We were shown to a table and 3 menus were presented one showing specials, the other two a folder containing the main menu, a meat menu and the drinks menus. There was a line on the main menu stating that the vegan menu should be requested. The table next to us had new customers brought to it but despite being right next to us, we couldn't get the staff's attention to request the vegan menu. Eventually someone came over asking if we were ready to order and we were finally able to request the menu. One vegan menu was brought to us and we ordered cautiously, given that the table who came in after us already had their starter and it was huge. Depressingly, that menu stated that vegan wines were available, which is what I'd have preferred if we didn't have the beers we'd ordered in the apparent absence of vegan wines. We ordered the foccacia with olive oil and balsamic to share. Two plates were brought to us. They were dirty and greasy. We requested clean plates and the waiter brought two more plates that were also greasy. Clean plates were provided on the 3rd attempt. The olive oil and balsamic are presented in bottles. These are evidently not wiped between customers as both bottles were greasy. The foccacia arrived and was simply the worst I've had. It was dry and stodgy, perhaps made a couple of days before or perhaps even earlier and frozen. We left most of it. The pizza was huge but the toppings had amalgamated into an emulsion like slop, causing the thin base to taste like uncooked dough. The chips were fine, as was the basic side salad. We didn't order dessert after the meal we'd had. The staff are mainly very young people with no one directing them, so they spent most of the time standing in the doorways chatting. They knew to serve the food and clear the tables but they clearly have had little to no customer service training and were not checking the customers had what they needed and were happy. This place is inexpensive and the portions are large, but rather than authentic Italian food, we were left with a sense of quantity over quality."

"The carbonara was slimy spaghetti, packet ham, burn mushrooms and cheese slapped on the top. Didn’t even want to try it. If you’re going to sell pasta like that, at least buy it from a shop where at least it’s edible. The ‘chicken wings’ …....No idea if it was chicken or what! Had one bit and it was tough. Chips, dry and tasteless. Had high hopes for this place, but it’s offended me."

"I have lived near Scarborough for over 6 years and never been here before. Been aware of it, but never been. My wife has been a few times and told me how good it is. So we ventured to Giannis. It’s a wonderful place. Lovely, authentic Italian atmosphere the music was great, pictures on the wall great atmosphere. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We had the trio bruschetta for starter delicious. The Calzone pizza and Diavola were absolutely delicious. Enormous and totally full of flavour. We passed on the dessert because we couldn’t eat anymore! The coffees (lattes were hot (you don’t get hot lattes at the service stations!! and you could taste the coffee. Fantastico! A great experience going again for sure. I imagine most living in the area have already been but if you’re visiting Scarborough, and you enjoy Italian food, you have to visit Giannis. You will not regret it."

"Lorenzos, The Bay, Filey Tried to eat here with my family in August 2017 whilst staying at The Bay Filey. Nestled among the resort 's many unfinished building projects, it offers a reasonable Italian menu. Sadly, on arrival for lunch, we were told that most items were unavailable! It was high season, not October, and the dishes are hardly complex. Didn 't realize my holiday involved time travel back to the mid- '70s! Eventually settled for a very average pizza. Fairly typical of The Bay Filey. Half-hearted and sub-standard in my view. Young staff are friendly and work hard without much support from resort management. That 's what this place is like, I 'm afraid. Welcome to The Bay!"

"The food wasn’t good, masquerading as Italian but tasting like below average English cafe food. The Rissoto reminded me of Ambrosia creamed rice for example. On entering the staff were not friendly, benito! and didn’t seem to care whether we enjoyed the food or not."
