"(We drove from Sumner co, TN to visit this restaurant.)First of all, the drive here was as if we were driving through the mid-west with the flat land, old farm houses and grain silos all seen from the interstate. I definitely felt like Dorothy Gale, in a way, with the looming rainstorm setting the stage! The drive, alone, was a photographer 's dream and one I look forward to again. When we finally arrived in Princeton, the quaint little town leaves you wanting to live atop one of the buildings and paint for a living. Some storefronts appear to be of original structure and most still have ornate wood work doning their doorsteps. We easily parked and strolled into Gather on Main an hour before brunch ended on Sunday. As soon as we walked in we were immediately greeted not only by our host but by the sights and smells of this hidden gem. The glass dessert display counter we walked past, filled with delectable sweet treats and croissants, begged our eyes a teasing peek of what was to come. Was that Boba tea we also spotted? Yes. Yes it was.The decor, with its teal walls, exposed brick, and even the the dinnerware, were all chosen meticulously. The details all worked together to provide a beautiful and comforting sensory experience! As soon as we were seated, with almost no wait, we were immediately serviced with a smile and a warm personality. We had already peeped the new seasonal menu BEFORE we arrived so we all knew what we wanted right away. Even my picky teenagers with food sensory issues were able to try and enjoy almost everything we ordered! My husband ordered the chicken waffles with warm cinnamon mascarpone and syrup. AMAZING! The chicken was tender and MOIST. The seasoning and breading...just perfect. We all fought over this dish. YUM!Next, I ordered the avocado toast with smoked salmon, capers, red onion and boiled egg on rye toast. I had never eaten smoked salmon before as I was always afraid it would taste slimy and, well...fishy. I 'm SO glad I tired it because now I am a forever fan!Along with my avocado toast I ordered a fresh fruit bowl with strawberries, blueberries, grapes and pomegranate seeds! This was such a bright treat to eat along with my main dish. Everything was plump and juicy! Both my children ordered the single Classic burgers with chili lime fries. They love hamburgers but are often picky with where it comes from. Zero complaints AND they ate all of it!We also HAD to try the apple streusel French toast. Another hit! The flavors of this dish were just lovely. Today, I am still craving that dish on a dreary morning.Because of MY misread of the menu, I ordered the balsamic-glazed Brussels sprouts topped with parmesan cheese. To my surprise, the Chef honored my craving and personally surprised us with this glorious bowl of goodness! Holy wow is all I have to say. All this dish did was make us want to visit for dinner! The crispy little leaf edges and the balsamic were a poppin ' delight! After all was said and done, we opted to order some desserts to-go and I 'm so glad we did. Cathy 's carrot cake cupcake, keylime pie and bourbon cookie ball were FANTASTIC treats! We were all so pleasantly stuffed when we finally arrived home that we didn 't need to eat dinner. Thank you everyone from the Chef to the kitchen staff to the host: You all worked together to make our visit one for the books. We wish your restaurant nothing but success and hope that your seats are always filled with the eager patrons you deserve. And, of course, we will be back to visit the GORGEOUS upstairs bar area. The windows that overlook the street are simply picture perfect. I can envision myself enjoying a glass of wine here on a cold winter evening feeling completely content. What a thought!"
