"To us it seems that the Colonial Restaurant has been resting on its laurels, and forgotten to have a regular spruce up. Service was slow as there was only one lady serving when we were there. We planned to have lunch here but, after looking at the choice and prices we just had a coffee which was OK. Would we go back Yes, but I do hope things improve."

"I was surprised shocked when I visited here yesterday. None of the staff were wearing masks yet everyone coming into the cafe while I was there, did have them on. Who made the decision for the staff, where the rest of the town shops,...appeared to be following the guidance. Given that the staff were all very young, they probably have yet to have had their COVID vaccinations putting them even more at risk."

"Further to other reviews we also experienced dismissive and rude staff particularly from whoever was in the kitchen. We unfortunately arrived just after 2pm when they stop serving lunches, we asked nicely if there was any chance of some toasties but it was all too much trouble as they shut at 3pm. And whilst they wouldn’t do a toastie they would do a toasted teacake! I understand there has to be a cut off time but it appears odd to turn away business and also odd that a cafe closes at 3pm. If we go again we will take a picnic. Would not recommend."

"We are on holiday in weymouth and came for the day after dorchester and discovered this beautiful caffe. Eating was delicious and even my fussy daughter polished by her jacket kartoffel! service was really efficient and the staff really friendly. would definitely recommend it and will come back if we are ever in dorchester."

"I dropped in for coffee and an almond croissant on a hot Friday morning, en-route on my motorcycle from Dorchester to Somerset. My espressos were lovingly prepared and the fresh almond croissant, the perfect accompaniment. Fab! Can't wait to come back!"

"Offer a good range of breads, pasties and cakes. Can highly recommend the spelt flour bread, it is really delicious. Also they have a range of pasties and all are very nice, however the traditional is hard to beat. They have a good range of cakes and my particular favourite is the Bakewell tart. We had French friends stay with us and they very much enjoyed the croissants and pain au chocolat."

"Lovely stop off in Bridport and looking up dog friendly cafes we came across this gem. Mezze plate and sandwiches, sweet potato and ginger soup to name our highlights. Such a lovely place.... we wished we lived here rather than just passing through on holiday!"
