"These were really, really good pastries. It 's actually hard, in my opinion, to get really excellent, classic danish in NYC Patisserie Chanson hits the mark with their pain aux raisins cheese danish. You can tell these items are carefully made baked not mass produced by a roving set of kinda bakers. I am always amazed that so many of the famous, very French bakeries in NYC which inevitably spawn chains are so mediocre overall. A couple of them have breakfast pastries t croissant that are almost limp. Or the pastries have too much gloppy frosting or filling which overwhelm and eventually soften the pastry itself. These pastries were old school in the best possible sense. Superb."
