"To us it seems that the Colonial Restaurant has been resting on its laurels, and forgotten to have a regular spruce up. Service was slow as there was only one lady serving when we were there. We planned to have lunch here but, after looking at the choice and prices we just had a coffee which was OK. Would we go back Yes, but I do hope things improve."

"I was surprised shocked when I visited here yesterday. None of the staff were wearing masks yet everyone coming into the cafe while I was there, did have them on. Who made the decision for the staff, where the rest of the town shops,...appeared to be following the guidance. Given that the staff were all very young, they probably have yet to have had their COVID vaccinations putting them even more at risk."

"Good coffee stop on our drive down to Cornwall. Dogs not allowed inside which is fair enough. Lovely farm shop with a cafe with outside seating. Beautiful views and Decent coffee. Only slight downer is the toilets."

"Fantastic place to eat we hadn’t booked and it was busy but were quickly seated, gorgeous beach views of the sunset. The food was served very quickly and was delicious. Great atmosphere and contemporary decor. Can’t wait to return."

"Further to other reviews we also experienced dismissive and rude staff particularly from whoever was in the kitchen. We unfortunately arrived just after 2pm when they stop serving lunches, we asked nicely if there was any chance of some toasties but it was all too much trouble as they shut at 3pm. And whilst they wouldn’t do a toastie they would do a toasted teacake! I understand there has to be a cut off time but it appears odd to turn away business and also odd that a cafe closes at 3pm. If we go again we will take a picnic. Would not recommend."

"I dropped in for coffee and an almond croissant on a hot Friday morning, en-route on my motorcycle from Dorchester to Somerset. My espressos were lovingly prepared and the fresh almond croissant, the perfect accompaniment. Fab! Can't wait to come back!"

"Offer a good range of breads, pasties and cakes. Can highly recommend the spelt flour bread, it is really delicious. Also they have a range of pasties and all are very nice, however the traditional is hard to beat. They have a good range of cakes and my particular favourite is the Bakewell tart. We had French friends stay with us and they very much enjoyed the croissants and pain au chocolat."

"Behind a charming facade there is a huge complex of small apartments for rent. However, the pub itself is warm and welcoming with several eating areas including a couple of outdoor terraces. We visited as a group of 20 on a Sunday lunchtime (booked) and the service was quick and the food well prepared. We were able to have one of the eating areas to ourselves. Good disabled access to the restaurant but ramps supplied for the toilets. Very friendly and attentive staff. Dogs welcome in the bar area."
