"The food when it eventually came was really lovely. It was a busy Saturday lunch time I ordered one of the specials which was sold out so I choose something else and we waited 45 minutes before we asked where it was. People after us got food before us so I think it was lost in the system. They were very apologetic, offered free desserts but we took cake away instead and something was knocked off the bill. They did everything to try and put things right so I would go back. Nice menu, prices OK. Quality, tasty food"

"Visited for the March taster menu and Matthew did us proud, We tried the March 5 course taster menu the food was magnificent. OYSTER, FENNEL, APPLE, CUCUMBER, GREEN HERBS SMOKED DUCK, RADISH, WALNUTS, ORANGE TUNA TARTARE, JACK DANIELS, COCKLES, SHALLOTS 82˚ BRAISED LAMB LEG, PEAS CARROTS, TARRAGON, TRUFFLES THE GIN TONIC Over the last 20 years I have always had good food at 1885 Matthew, Nathan Victoria have done great things with the restaurant and pub. Keep up the good work your food and place is amazing."
