"We have visited and eaten in Les Halles of Lyon and Marseille and therefore when we came across Les Halles of Nimes we decided to come in and taste the local cuisine. The restaurant in on the back side of the Halles. You can either sit on the "bar" around the kitchen or on a seating area. The menu offers both meat and sea dishes. On the meat there is duck and rabbit liver, kidneys, meatballs and a steak, On the sea menu among the standards are squid or gambas. As a special of the day they had a cassolete of the two seas, with a cod coming from the Atlantic and a "muge" coming from the Mediterranean,. In the plate were also mussels, small squids, potatoes ..We selected the cassolete and the grilled squid as main dishes and a small plate of small fried fish, jolles at the beginning. The cassolete was fantastic.. there was nothing which was not nice on it - ok maybe the potatoes... The grilled squid was ok. The disappointment was that the squid ink rice that was coming as a side dish. The rice was very dry and not as tasty as we have eaten elsewhere before..The other disappointment was the fact that the joles were frozen packed.. We would have expected that a restaurant in the heart of the fresh food market would serve mainly things coming from the "catch of the day" bought in the market rather than the supermarket... The cafe gourmand served as desert looked promising with large portions of the pastries but we wanted to have a coffee elsewhere..If you want to feel the market we definetely recomend it. Just do not take - or ask about how fresh - the joles.. :)"

"Restaurant to make! dishes are neat and the kitchen is perfectly mastered. There are uncommon dishes, such as sooli or intestines. the service is very pleasant, the frame too. the restaurant offers dishes with or without accompaniment, which is very interesting at the rate level. I recommend."
