"Paul Martin 's is a quality venue. Since patio seating is now to be the 'norm ' the restaurant should consider installing 'bug zappers ' to prevent the flies from the eating area. Other than this, the service, and dining menu selection was outstanding. We enjoyed our visit and will plan to dine here, again, in the future."

"This is my new favorite restaurant. I have dined here twice in the last two weeks. My favorite dish is the strip steak. It is magnificently prepared with the perfect ruby inside (when ordered medium-rare) and crisply, wood-infused flavored on the outside. On my last visit I ordered the side dish of mushrooms which was a perfect combination for the steak. On my first visit I tried the potatoes au gratin but found the potatoes to be undercooked for my taste. As for the service, it is the best. From the hostess at the front desk to Robert our waiter, who was attentive, though knew when not to interrupt our conversation. This is difficult to find, even in a fine restaurant. Robert was outstanding! The steaks at this restaurant are far superior to those at Ruth Chris or Alexander's. As for the bill, for both visits of a party of two, our bill has never been over"

"The pastas were to die for. We got the Torchetti and the Squid Ink lobster pastas and they were heaven on earth. The pork meatball appetizer was great but not amazing, but since we weren't crazy about the lamb especially its cost we would probably order the meatballs again to eat with the pasta. We were full on 2 pastas 1 meatball appetizer and we were pretty hungry. We did have the hidden peach tart dessert that wasn't on the menu using our second stomachs but it was tasty but just average. Basically apple pie texture, but wish the peaches were soft instead of crunchy. Overall fantastic place and those pasta dishes were out of this world. The ambiance is a little crowded and a tad noisier than I would've liked. The waitress was sometimes hard to get a hold of (wish they scanned the area before turning around) but if it's the flavor you value more than the vibe then highly recommend."

"It's funny how to go to a restaurant and blog about it, but then I won't write about a restaurant I've been several times, even if I really love the food. This is the case with Azeens Afghani Restaurant in the old town of Pasadena. Azeen’s is the type of restaurant that really needs some spotlight, simply because it is hidden on a single street that is not everywhere near the busy pedestrian traffic on the parallel street of Colorado Boulevard. I just found out because I went to dinner with friends a few years ago. Since then, I've been back a few times and I have to say that I've never been disappointed with my meal. So let's come to dinner, When it comes to appetizers, I had most of them and they are quite delicious. For the special meal that this contribution to reference, my friends and I shared two of them. One was the Pakawara-e-badenjan, who was removed from the aubergine. It is at Azeen that I had ever fried an eggplant deep and an eggplant lover, that was already a bonus. I enjoyed the crumbs of the dough, but first I wasn't quite sure that the yogurt and meat sauce, the eggplant topped. It seemed a strange combination, but the tangy yoghurt sauce actually married well with the higher seasoned tomato-based meat sauce. The other appetizer was the Buranee-kadu. This dish is sauteed butternut cheese, also covered with yogurt and meat sauce. The fusion of flavors was really interesting for this dish. You get sweet, fleshy, brownish bites. While we didn't have this time, you should also look at their steamed dumplings when you decide to visit Azeen. One is the mantu, a chopped beef, onions and herbal dumpling and the Aushak, whose filling includes leeks and scalions. Both dumplings have slightly different sauces. The sauce for the mantu is also yogurt-based and the dumplings are covered with mixed vegetables, while the freak has a yogurt and meat sauce, with the addition of mint. What is great about all the yoghurt sauce is that they are all homemade so you know they are absolutely fresh. When the ducks came, we ordered the following: 1) Badenjan Challaw – lambs cooked with eggplants, onions and tomatoes. 2) Gulpi – Cauliflower stew cooked with ginger, onions and tomatoes 3) Kabob-e-murgh – tender breasts of chicken breast As I said, I enjoyed all my meals quite well, except for the occasional dish that it did not for me. In this case, I didn't care much about the lamb shell. Compared to other things I have tried in the past, the Badenjan Challaw was not as tasty as I would have liked, plus the lamb was a little chew if it had been tender. I loved the Gulpi. Cauliflower on his own is so greedy, but when brewed with ginger, onions and tomatoes, it definitely took a taste life of his own, which was very appealing. When it comes to kabobs, the actual test for me is chickens. If a restaurant can prepare chicken breast cabob without being dry as the restaurant deserves praise. So Azeen’s praises because her chicken breast cabob always comes moist and tender. When it comes to the other menu items, you can really not go wrong with one of the pages or cure vegetarian dishes. Azeens really knows how to cook her vegetables. They always have a lot of great taste to them. The other meat lobes, beef and lamb, are hit and miss. Sometimes they are tender and juicy and sometimes, not so much. As far as the other ducks are concerned, I have always enjoyed the Korma Challaw, cooked a dish with meat pieces with green pepper, onions and tomatoes. The sauce is so good that I would spoon it over my rice and eat it even after the meat was gone. As for desserts they serve three different types. I always find the Baklava and the jelly, the roasted dough is too sweet. If I'm in the mood for something sweet, I stay with her rice pudding, which is served chilled with pistachios and almonds. Finally, let me say that I eat a lot and I'm always looking for new restaurants and new kitchens to try. It is rare that I will return to the same restaurant twice a year, even if I think the food is excellent. For me to have gone to Azeen 3 to 4 times, in any case shows more than anything else, how much I really enjoy eating there. You should check it yourself!"

"A delicious dinner in South Pasadena in a historically important, beautiful, California Craftsman style former home. As the name suggests the history dates back to 1886 which is honestly really cool. It feels really homey and just like a well-designed craftsman in style and function. There is a ton of seating inside and outside and there is also ample parking around on the side streets. They also provide valet but we were able to find a space close. Our server Patrick was also really polite. I started off with the Steak Tartare and it was delicious. Mixing the yolk into the beef was my favorite part. For my entree I chose the Ocean Trout and it was very tasty. The goat cheese accompaniment was delicious with the fish. For dessert we chose the Raymond Classic and it was gone within a few minutes. It was sinfully sweet in the best sort of way. Overall a really nice dinner. I love the vibe of the place as well so it?s the sort of restaurant you will want to stay awhile with your guests. I plan to be back soon."
