"Mariscos Solo is a favorite of my friends and me - it's a wonderfully relaxed seafood joint with a small informal dining room (big windows allow the indoor diners to see the outside patio and the streets beyond) and tables for four outdoors. If you're looking for fresh-off-the-boat octopus, shrimp and clam cocteles, this is where they're available without breaking the bank. Their menu is fixed –anything you want as long as it's a coctel in small, medium & large. Oh, they also have a killer ceviche. Ever present are these bags of big round tortilla chips. My pals and I don't mess around - we go for vaso grande with sides of ceviche. Our meals come in paper cups, floating in red sauce que tiene picante - chiles, cilantro & onion. Check out the almeja - 'coctele' or en concha, (in the shell) - or the pulpo (octopus). Or take any of the single seafoods 'solo' - just shrimp or just clam.We get Mexican cokes with cut limes, but they also serve the regular Mexican beers.Below I marked "atmosphere" because the place is full of street-cred atmosphere, and you should know that the "scenic view" marked below is of a bustling intersection where shoeshine guys mingle with cab drivers and then Range Rovers pull up so guys with gold Rolexes send their vamped-up bottle-blonde girlfriends in the joint to pick up their take-out food...When we started showing up there about 20 years ago, the place was called ‘Mariscos Socio,’ Mariscos Solo is just the same - good food and good price!"

"This restaurant is one of the most popular seafood restaurants in Tijuana. It has a large dining area including an outside covered patio that gets full that people are waiting. The food is very good and the service is usually just as good. The menu provides all your traditional Mexican favorites to include ceviche, tacos, sopes, cocktails and main seafood courses. It also offers a sushi bar for variety. On this visit, I tried the sopes with chicharrón de camarón and three salsa fish stuff with mariscos, yum. One of my favorite aspects of eating here is they provide seasoned corn chips and salsa when you sit down. Another favorite of this location is that when you ask for your check, they provide you a small complementary silk stocking mixed drink. This is definitely a family and group friendly restaurant. Further, it's a good place to go for big sporting events, as it does provide some large screen televisions."

"Concurrimos 12 amigos(as) todos en la misma mesa a restaurante IPA'A el miercoles 26 del presente mes a una cena donde en cada platillo el protagonista fue un insecto deliciosamente preparado por los Chefs Manuel Rubio de IPA'A y Juan Pablo Ussel de la Diferencia, siendo sommelier Marco Amador con vinos de L.A. Cetto y contando con la presencia de Alejandro Escalante, experto en insectos quien vino exprofeso de la Ciudad de Mexico.La cena estuvo llena de sorpresas, sobretodo, los que ibamos por primera vez a una cena con insectos!De entrada nos sirvieron una tostadita de nopales y un ostion fresco bañado en salsa increible, armonizados con bebida de mezcla de vino espumoso y cerveza que se casaba esplendidamente con ambas entradas.Posteriormente degustamos un taco de escamoles armonizado con vino blanco Chardonnay reserva privada. Muy interesante y bien ejecutado.Enseguida, Xanducata de cerdo con hormiga Chictana. Este platillo me dejo perplejo por el rico sabor de esta hormiga negra gigante comestible.Luego, probamos un clasico taco de chapulines con un tinto de uva Gamay, sorprendente!A continuacion un filete de res con un extraordinario mole de Xamues ( segun recuerdo una especie de escarabajo, insectos grandes patones, negros con manchas rojas y crecen en el arbol del mezquite), este platillo fue algo sin palabras en contraste de sabores, texturas, armonizado con un Nebbiolo Resera de LA Cetto 2001!, extraordinario vino. Sin duda, de lo mejor de la cena sin demeritar los platillos anteriores; preparado por el Chef Manuel Rubio de IPA'A.Para cerrar, un helado de miel de pulgon con Kumquats y ALACRAN, armonizado con un Chambrule. Fue una manera fantastica de cerrar la cena. El postre estuvo a cargo del chef Juan Pablo Ussel del restaurante La Diferencia.En concreto, fue una cena redonda, donde los escepticos como yo a comer insectos quedamos mas que sorprendidos y el costo fue muy razonable, creo que era cena para pagar el doble ( costo alrededor de $ 850.00 pesos x persona.Quedo mas que listo para asistir a la proxima cena de insectos!Marco, Tijuana"

"Went here with a friend who has a home in TJ. He told me the shrimp tacos were the best. I was not disappointed the shrimp tacos were fantastic as was the service. I also got a shrimp cocktail that was good but not the best I have had but still loaded with nice plump quality shrimp. This is the place to go for delicious shrimp tacos. Two big thumbs up from me."

"I found the food to be all around good at El taller. I especially liked the beets with goat cheese. The pizzas were also good and the service was attentive. My only complaint is that the wine list is quite limited especially in terms of good wines from BC but in the end we just went across the street to the liquor store and paid the corkage fee."
