"La découverte de ce japonais à Brive-la-Gaillarde a été une agréable surprise. C'est une excellente adresse, le cadre est très sympathique et l'ambiance japonaise est très chaleureuse. L'amabilité des serveurs et des serveuses est un fort atout de cette enseigne! Mais pas seulement! En effet, les mets proposés sont absolument somptueux. Nous avons été ravis de la propreté et du soin accordés à la présentation. Les spécialités japonaises défient toute concurrence ainsi que les menus qui sont proposés à des prix plus que raisonnables et qui donnent, forcément, envie d'y revenir! C'est bien pour cela que nous y sommes revenus plus d'une fois.Adeptes de la cuisine japonaises et fervents clients de divers japonais nous avons su être charmé par celui-ci et nous en sommes plus que contents! Vous savez où aller si vous venez à Brive!"

"Nous avons été très bien accueillis avec le sourire par le serveur et le chef. Menu du jour copieux même pour les enfants. Les frites sont délicieuses et, tout est maison. Les plats ont du goût et les desserts aussi. Je recommande vivement."

"For months we will go past the snack beef and laugh about the absurd idea, at a place called snack beef with a large bright red sign in front and appropriate font to eat. then I read the travel advisers reviews and thought it could actually be good. I mean, if you want a steak for under €20, it's great! the sides are quite standard and uninspiring (frites and green salat with tweezers and vinaiigrette,) but the steaks are excellent! my only complaint is a smoker area next to the normal non-smoking tables. but in any case we are back!"

"We arrived at Chez Nikola to find that Nikola had opened his restaurant that evening just for us, usually it is mostly a lunch only place. Nikola is a totally engaging & very interesting man. We were offered to select from the full menu, choosing the salmon starter, mains of beef & fish - the beef is locally sourced & tastes superb, it was served with a mushroom sauce, again the mushrooms are locally sourced. The fish served whole was perfectly cooked, served with oil & lemon. Next we were given a cheese plate like no other, you just cut off whatever you want, a great way to sample whatever takes your fancy. Next the dessert buffet, the floating island (a runny custard with a meringue topping) was our personal favourite, however the apple crumble, tiramisu, lemon tart were also very good. Nikola prepares all the food himself & also takes & delivers the meals. The price for 3 course & a carafe of house red is just 28euro's, unbelievable value for the quality & love that goes into the food. Nikola ended up sitting with us sharing lifes stories which made our evening most memorable. Dining here is experience to remember forever, for us it was truly unique. Reservations for dinner essential."

"Magnifique expérience culinaire. Ambiance cosy, accueil sympa de toute la brigade, des plats tout simplement délicieux avec une présentation soignée et recherchée, de la mise en bouche jusqu'au dessert. Le tout pour un prix plus qu'abordable.Dommage que tant de kilomètres nous séparent, j'y retournerai bien !"

"I went with my parents based on recommendation. First impression this restaurant has no soul. It is cold. The service was good but i cannot say the same about the food. The foie gras was ok, I've had better. My scallops were surrounded of file d'ange so much of it that the sauce was absorbed by it. No flavour at all. Apple tart was average. It feels like it came from the freezer.. Overall I was disappointed. I cannot see how they can justify the rating of this restaurant. The food is mostly frozen!!!"

"We always visited this place when in Brive and got to know the lovely owner. New décor and tables now adorn the dining area. A pleasant server looked after us and we looked at the much smaller menu. Chose our drinks and food which all arrived pretty quickly. Food was up to standard although crepes are now folded. Salad used to be on the plate but is now served separately and charged extra for. Not such a big choice of desserts though. Will go again to see if the standard is as good."
