"Just expanded from what was a coffee shop, there is a sensibly limited menu which means that the food is freshly cooked, with attention to local sourcing of ingredients. The rearrangement of the furniture allows for more customers, but at present it is fairly quiet. Once people realise the quality of the food and the reasonable prices, I'm sure this will change. For now, it is a haven from the rest of the nightlife in the Ironmarket, and perhaps will need to attract people who don't usually venture into the centre of Newcastle in the evening. But it's well worth the effort you'll be rewarded with excellent food and courteous service, in a pleasant environment where you can converse without needing to raise your voice. So full marks for this new evening venue."

"I go here regularly with living near by and can't fault it. My lad has the full English and I often have oatcakes with 3 fillings. Probably a tad expensive if we're being completely honest. But the food is nice. Service is quick and friendly. The cafe itself is very clean and well refurbished. Can order to takeaway or sit in at a nice dining area. Definitely recommend it."

"Visited Lodge India tonight for a meal with friends. We'd booked a table earlier in the week but when we arrived it seemed that we weren't expected. Took a while for someone to take our orders. Poppadoms came out to us then when the waiter came to collect our plates he asked if we were going straight to have our main course. We said we'd ordered a starter. The waiter had taken it about half an hour ago . Sorry but we've been here before and the food and service then was brilliant. I enjoyed my main meal but my friends didn't enjoy there's but I didn't enjoy my starter of garlic mushrooms . The service was quite poor and it was like been in a episode of fawlty towers. Lodge India should think more about the restaurant rather than the take away side."
