"My friends were in from TO celebrating their birthday. We arrived and they had given away our seat on the patio this seating us inside. Our food was lovely, the duck risotto and escargot appetizer were big hits. It’s the staff and service that is...a problem. The chef in the back kitchen had a table of loud friends arrive, who took up priority. No one checked on us. The wait staff was eating before we were even offered dessert. Also 2 of the 3 desserts ordered were wrong. We were there for close to 4 hours start to finish waiting on service. The food was good but not good enough to condone that treatment. I wouldn’t go back"

"We came to Ludger after a concert for some post-concert food and drink. The staff was super friendly and the food, which is essentially small plates, very good. The plating of the food was exceptional for a restaurant of this kind. The polenta fries, fried tofu and octopus are well worth checking out, as are some of the house cocktails."

"While at a week-long downtown convention, my wife and I had a short but profitable late afternoon Monday visit to the Casino de Montreal and decided to spend some of our winnings on a special dinner. I contacted BIS and was welcomed without a reservation even though the restaurant is normally busy most nights. The meal was even better than the gambling which preceded it. The veal and wine paring (I AM Aria Matteo Domodimonti Marche 2016) were wonderful. Although not on the dessert menu, the kitchen made up a fresh fruit plate which topped off the evening. Friendly and engaging service. BIS means encore in Italian and if we lived in Montreal, we would definitely visit it again!"

"Finally got to check out Alexandraplatz on an early Monday evening. The terrasse was packed with people! We couldn't even grab a seat so we headed inside where there was plenty of room. <br/ <br/ The place is very hipster but loved the laid back vibe. You order at the bar so don't expect a server to come to you when you sit down. They have a good mix of drinks beer on tap, bottled beer, cocktails, bubbles, wine and non alcoholic . There's even a few snacks. <br/ <br/ Radler $6.00 blonde beer and grapefruit soda. A solid refreshing, summery radler. Easy drinking. <br/ Bourbon lemonade $10.00 Maker's Mark and lémo lemonade. Also good but you can taste the bourbon. <br/ Rhubarb soda with vodka this was their other special but they ran out halfway through making my drink. Luckily, they were nice enough and gave it to us on the house $9.00 regularly . Tasted like a watered down version of vodka soda. <br/ Chardonnay Castor 6.8% $7.00 never heard of a beer being called a Chardonnay before but it was good. Read up that it's aged in Chardonnay barrels interesting . Smelled great; I got hints of floral and citrus. Apparently it's a sour/wild ale.<br/ <br/ Fun spot. Cash only!"

"Ambitious menu that was pulled off reasonably well. We were disappointed that our primary wish for dinner, the mussels, was not available. Apparently it is relatively common for items on the menu not to be available. However, our second choices were very good. My husband...had the tuna in sesame seeds, which was not quite as rare as he would have liked; I had the veal morsels with mushrooms, which was excellent. Generous portions in both cases. The house wine was interesting, and reasonably priced, as was the food. The wine was a very dry and acidic chardonnay which went well with both of our meals. We ended with fine creme brûlée. Very reasonable prices, esp. for the day's specials. The wait staff was casual but professional and we especially enjoyed the outdoor patio."
