"The Alley Bar & Grill is located in the Pacific Suites Canberra and many of it's clientele are guests staying at the apartments above, although you don't have to be a hotel guest to dine here.We visited four times during our stay in Canberra (three breakfasts and one dinner).Breakfast is a buffet that includes fruits, yoghurts, cereals, pastries, toast plus bacon, sausages, mushrooms, baked beans, scrambled eggs and hash browns. There is also a coffee machine and juices and water available. The food was of a good standard although during busy times, there was a small delay before empty bain-marie's were replaced. There were only two wait staff rostered on the mornings we visited which wasn't enough during busy periods.We were very happy with the quality of the food we had at dinner and the servings were huge. Unfortunately we found the menu a little poorly written. The Philly Cheese burger made no mention of what type of meat it was (it was beef), and the Butternut Pumpkin Ravioli was just listed as Butternut Pumpkin which meant we had to ask what it was. The people on the table next to us were just as confused so maybe this is something that could be looked at. Once again, for most of the night there was only one waiter on (the other was busy delivering room service orders), so service was quite slow at times. Upon leaving we were disappointed that the free drink and dessert that were supposed to be included as part of our child's kids meal deal had been billed to our account separately. Fortunately this was rectified without issue.I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here if I wasn't a hotel guest, but The Alley is a great addition to the apartments and caters for all ages and tastes adequately."

"After reading about gaby’s in her canberra’ I wanted to try it myself. parking is tricky as it is always in the parliamentary triangle, but it is worth the effort. gaby itself is charming and also his personal. the menu is classic aussie, but I think it's really the burgers who are gaby's signature dish. good old-fashioned burger, huge enough to share, are a bargain at $9 for a burger with the go. Sitting is free, but with view of the beautiful autumn colors along the kings ave, making a picnic atmosphere. it is iconic canberra eating and well support, especially given the upcoming relocation later this year. hopefully, this means finding a new one and...more"
