"Absolute favourite in Edinburgh. Visited as couple. Fantastic service, very knowledgeable and fun team. The food was super delicious and could eat there every day. Very fresh and tasty seafood. Oysters as fresh as you get them straight from a boat. The wine was good as well. Had the shallot mussels, one full pot, I couldn't finish. The sauce was amazing too. Everything just top! My partner had the shellfish pasta, it was perfectly cooked and the sauce really nice. Good portion. It's a simple restaurant but I guess you come there for the food. We had a table booked for Thursday night, but there seemed to be free tables as well for walk ins. Would come back again and again."

"On a city trip, we were looking for dairy free and ended up having vegan. It was perfectly ok. Nice and helpful staff. Cosy atmosphere. I highly recommend the experience!"

"A group of a dozen of us booked a private lunch party in charwood last Monday. the ambiente, the setting and the service have exceeded all our expectations and the addition of an additional, unexpected gastes has the staff not fade a bit the quality of the kitchen was very good, with a varied selection offered at and the dishes were presented with style, some dishes on top plates and the steak dishes on rectangular, wooden boards. charwood is one to come back!"

"Very accommodating and a lovely atmosphere. Found ourselves here on a whim due to issues with our actual booked venue being closed when we arrived. Service was quick and friendly, very good selection of craft ales. Food was absolutely delicious, we did order sweet potato fries with my husbands steak but it came with the rustic fries. The gent serving us was apologetic and was quick to offer to ring them in for us. We said it was no problem we will just stick with the rustic fries and they were very tasty."

"Terrible customer service!! Never in my LIFE have I been made to feel so unwelcome in what is meant to be a ‘renowned establishment’, whenever I would talk to a member of staff whether that be to order food or drinks I was met with a look that can only be described as utter disgust. I have never EVER felt so belittled, I will never recommend this place to anyone visiting Edinburgh unless they’re in the mood to have a borderline panic attack due to being treated so unkindly!!"

"The server there, Sierra, was extremely unprofessional while my friend and I were there. She wasn't our server, bit while we were there she made the poor hostess (I think, maybe to go person) cry because she was already under stress and Sierra kept yelling at her. She's terrible! I will turn around and walk out next time I'm there if she's still working there. I hate to leave a bad review since everyone else was amazing, but I don't leave reviews often and I feel this needed to be acknowledged! She made the entire experience bad when it shouldn't have been."

"Perfectly cooked steaks. At our table we had medium rare, medium and well done steaks all where to a T. Starters and sides where equally delicious. As was sticky toffee desert. Waitress Alison was very polite and informative. A great meal all at our table thoroughly enjoyed."
