"Was also staying at the Travelodge just down the road, was recommended the pub by the receptionist, made the 5 minute walk round the corner to see the pub in front of me, thinking it it was closed at first, then walked around the other side and dubiously walked in, was surprised to find it quite busy, was sent to the kitchen hatch to talk to the chef, which I had't done before, but was nice to see a clean kitchen and the chef was very friendly, I ordered a curry and was asked how i would like it, mild, medium or hot. Took a while to come, but was in no rush, but was very surprised, thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be back!!"

"Absolutely amazing experience today! The food was good, the prices very reasonable but the service was utterly outstanding. Thea welcomed myself and my toddler, was very accomodating of allergies and went out of her way to help us to the table I requested, including helping me lift the buggy. She made sure my hungry toddler was served almost immediately and was so kind and thoughtful that the whole experience was stress free and I felt very well looked after. I will be definitely going back next time I'm in Sudbury and I hope that Thea is working then too!"

"What do you want me to say? this is the best meal we had in a very long time! eating was excellent (the lobster ravioli was for dying, like blue cheese rarbit! the wee was so buttery quality (david moret rully and the service was onpoint and so friendly! thanks to the scutchers team for a fabulous night. highly recommended!"

"The meal was excellent, decent portions for a great Sunday roast lunch. Good quality and very reasonable prices.The staff was friendly but not intrusive, which means you can have a quiet conversation with your friends. The decor is not much, but I honestly didn't mind. The food quality and cooking completely made up for it in my opinion.I will come back."

"Family of 10 visiting the pub and having the Sunday carvery. Food was excellent with a good choice of meats and vegetables. Four meat choices (beef/pork/turkey/gammon) and plenty of choice for veggies. Large plate was 13.95 and small plate was £10.95 which is a great price considering what’s on offer. Will definitely go back again."

"Ancient pub in an historic building at the centre of a quiet village. The Sunday lunch we had was excellent my trad beef, the SO's nut roast and our companion's fish chips were all top notch. Everything on my plate which included a delicious onion marmalade was first class. A small menu of well judged dishes which changes, we were told, monthly. A very good range of beer on tap and you could see, from the number of locals dropping in for a pint, that the pub is well used by the community. Added to my list of nearby pubs to drop along to. Vegetarian options: Very good carrot and nut roast. Excellent fish chips"
