"We stumbled onto this restaurant, tucked into a small alley off the main street in Old Chinon, one evening. While we were peering in the window, the proprietor, Dede, opened the door and invited us in. Within was a hodgepodge of colorful and odd decor. Women's shoes with stiletto heels on the tables held bottles of wine. A big horse mannequin stood quietly in the corner, next to a woman mannequin in old country dress. Lots of displays of wine bottles and barrels. There were no menus. We were seated at a table and each given a glassful of wine (poured from an unusual pitcher). Then we toasted each other, joined by Dede. A series of small courses, like multiple hors d'oeuvres, were brought to us one at a time. Among the courses were white beans, salad, a delicious meat paste, tarte flambee, and plenty of fouees, a type of puffy hearth cooked bread. We finally figured out that this WAS dinner that the focus was on drinking wine, laughing and enjoying each other's company, while helping ourselves to the small courses Dede kept bringing to the table. The evening was fun, quirky, relaxing, somewhat intoxicating, and vaguely Rabelaisan, which isn't too surprising since this is, after all, Rabelais country. When we could eat and drink no more, we were provided with a bill (20 euros apiece). Not bad, considering the fun we had! If you're looking for standard meal service, this is not the place to go. If you don't care for wine, it wouldn't be a good choice. But, if you enjoy a partylike atmosphere in a fun, picturesque setting, with a funny and creative host, you'll enjoy this place. Especially if you're part of a group that likes to laugh."

"Nice place, well presented food but with little balance between flavors. the service was as confusing as the dishes. staff pour the wine but do not remove the empty plates for a long time, take the coats to the wardrobe but does not make it return them and does not explain where they have been stored .. things like that .. in addition it is a little too expensive .."
