"Have been there twice. Food is always more on the expensive side, and the servings kind of small. The quality of the food was good the first time, but I have to say that my second time there was a disappointment as the main dish was really not to my liking. The dessert was pretty great though. On the bright side, the ambience outside is always great."

"The Brennessel is surely one of the most important starting points for students. It's about several things. There are many delicious smaller dishes, the farms are young and pretty and there are regularly very cheap spaghettis. Bolognese, a huge share of 1.80. I can make the part with a lot of effort when I'm hungry, but I'd rather want less nuts and a little more sauce. Geting a place is not easy here, you should come early and who wants to talk should have a good voice to overwhelm the very high noise level. If you're looking for some rest, you'll miss the place. The facility is cozy."

""Kartoffelhäuser" gibt es eine ganze Menge in Deutschland, auch wenn sie unterschiedlich heißen. Viele von ihnen sind eher langweilig, nicht nur wegen der gewollten Konzentration auf Gerichte rund um die Knolle, sondern auch deswegen, weil das Essen eher fantasielos kombiniert und serviert wird. Im Freiburger Kartoffelhaus ist das ganz anders. Schon ein flüchtiger Blick auf die Speisekarte verrät, daß hier einiges mit Pfiff kreiert wurde, das Lust auf einen Test macht.Ich hatte an diesem feucht-heißen Tag keine rechte Lust auf ein Kartoffelgericht. Kein Problem, denn ich genoß eine wirklich erstklassige Fischsuppe, wunderbar würzig abgeschmeckt, mit feinem Edelfisch und etwas Gemüse, dazu ofenfrisches Walnußbrot, bei dem ich nicht weiß, ob es zur Suppe oder zum Salat der Begleiterin gehörte. Wie auch immer: Die Suppe war ein Hochgenuß. Nicht minder die Fettuccelle mit Pute in einer ungemein köstlichen, leicht scharfen Soße, die dem Gericht jede Spur von Eintönigkeit nahm. Billig ist es hier nicht: 15 Euro für einen Teller Nudeln mit Putengeschnetzeltem sei nicht gerade wenig, könnte man meinen. Doch die besondere Qualität, Sorgfalt der Zubereitung und die intensive Geschmackskomponente lassen keinen Zweifel daran, daß dieses Gericht den Preis wert ist. Das Karoffelgratin der Partnerin mit Lamm war ebenfalls sehr schmackhaft, nur erwies sich das Lammfleisch leider als derart zäh, daß man manche Stücke nur mit Mühe zerkauen konnte. Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Der spärlich begrünte Hof ist bei schönem Wetter eine kleine Oase der Ruhe und drinnen ist das Restaurant recht gemütlich, also auch bei Regenwetter und in der kalten Jahreszeit wärmstens zu empfehlen."
