"For over 12 years, the Sun Inn has been our favorite restaurant in the Edinburgh area. The food was always something a wee bit special. Unfortunately, last nite was not the case. There’s been a significant change in the menu, and not for the better. My partner and I had the soup, which to be honest was good. However my Daughter had the crispy cauliflower which was a complete disaster. From then on it went downhill, two of us had the steak pie, Fray Bentos make better! I’ll stress that we had no issues with the waiting staff, and I felt guilty having to voice my concerns about our experience. We only had four alcoholic drinks, three starters, and three mains. The bill after deductions was still £129! In essence a complete disaster, and having read other recent reviews on here, there does seem to be “issues.” My partner and Daughter have always raved The Sun Inn, and I’m gutted having to write this review…….."

"We only discovered this restaurant by chance, we were at Dobbies and the cafe there was full. Elginhaugh is rìght over the road so we went there, that was in May, we loved it so much we have been every week since. The staff are amazing, the food has a wide and varied choice. We have never had a bad meal here, EVER!"

"Absolutely loved our evening in the fantastically theatrical, imaginatively furnished, candle-lit Dungeon restaurant (our waiter eventually admitted that it had in fact been the stables, but never mind! Excellent, good value food, attentive, friendly service and a great atmosphere. Rump of lamb with slow-roasted rolled shoulder was particularly good, followed by an excellent cheese selection."
