"My favourite in Helmsley for coffee and light meal. Quiche is absolutely delicious . Staff friendly and welcoming. Restaurant cosy especially when fire on.Excellent coffee and mist important spotlessly clean toilet facilities which seems a rare find these days . Highly recommend."

"The food was good as usual service, but was terrible. It was not offered the usual bread-liven diving to begin that other tables got and had before. Not even desserts or desert menus were offered. The staff was generally sued. Had to pay at the bar how long waited after I asked for bill. The worst when I was asked how was the meal when I paid I politely gave my opinion how about the more precarious girl with an attitude offered no excuse and simply said that they were very busy and not staff. I noticed that I have been there since 19:00 and the restaurant was mostly empty so that not get the "busy" bit they don't get any excuse again) only repeated that they were busy and no employees. All she had to do was apologise and I felt a little better about the whole experience. No return"

"We came as a family last Sunday and couldn’t believe how cute the little building was on the outside and transported you back in time when you stepped into the tea parlour. Our host was Stacey who was really friendly, funny and attentive. We decided to go get a selection of the classic afternoon tea and savoury afternoon tea- both were so tasty and made to order. The bread for the sandwiches was so soft, the fillings especially the egg mayonnaise was creamy and not eggy in the slightest. The cheese scones and pork pie were delightful too (Stacey told their secret to making the cheese scones so light and fluffy). The onion marmalade was so moorish we ended up buying a bottle to take home. The classic afternoon tea was also delicious with everything being well presented, sweet but not too sweet and plentiful (we took a doggy bag home). The presentation of our afternoon teas was lovely and we loved the china as it dates back from the early 1900s and some from the mid-late 1800s. I have to say that this is the best afternoon tea I’ve had in the U.K. and after travelling and living abroad. It is definitely worth booking going, you won’t regret it and I can’t wait to go back!"

"Had curd tarts from other branches of TtB before and they didn't disappoint but we got a few from the Malton stall last week and the crust wasn't as crisp as the ones we had previously and there were strange hard bits in the curd which weren't the sultanas. A tad disappointing"

"Immersed in the chance to get a table for an evening meal. the bar staff was very friendly and courteous and brought a bowl of water for our dog. we both ordered starters who were plentiful, hot of good quality, both had served the piece of the day (play) with chips veg, which was again plentiful, hot of good quality. would definitely recommend pre-book as was busy."
