"If you want to go to the end of the bar and try to order your own drinks and poor them too. Become your own waiter and then be expected to tip your wait staff? You’re in the right place. Will never be back. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1"

"Yuk. Lowest quality possible of food I've eaten on this trip. Tasted like it was right out of the freezer, only thing going for this place was the view. Seems to be like the MO for places around here. They can get away with low quality food because of the location"

"Smells like Pine Sol. Not sure if they were cleaning before closing or if that's always the case. The cream in my Boston Cream donut tasted like it came from a can. The girl smashed my donut with the other two we ordered a hollow Apple Fritter and a cake donut. Disappointing."

"Good, clean restaurant. The food is very tasteful with decent parts. We ordered a Tom Yum Kung pot to share white steam and a shrimp pad Thai. The soup was large, with many shrimps, mushrooms, tomatoes and taste. The food was not too spicy, so we added extra chili. It snows this day so it hit the right place. Pricewise, it was a bit high, we paid almost $60 for dishes and tea and coffee. I would definitely visit this place again, even in the city."

"A friend decided to celebrate her birthday weekend in big bear and have her birthday dinner here. The first red flag was that if you reserve a table and choose to cancel, they charge you $25 a person. From my knowledge only high-end restaurants do that because I've never heard of a charge to cancel a reservation. I immediately assume that the food must be out of this world, make me soil myself good for it to have this policy. The last time I was this wrong was when I thought I didn't get my wife pregnant. We arrive for our reservation when opened at 4:30pm. Luckily our table was on the second floor because the first floor seating area was so dark you'd think you were eating in someone's basement. But this starts to make sense later on. We order our food, and I order a $31 salmon entree. These prices are high-quality steakhouse prices so my expectations were through the roof. During the course of the evening our party joked about the haunted history of the restaurant, yes you read that right, this place is supposedly haunted. Before we get our food BAM, the power goes out. And the smoke from the kitchen slowly makes its way throughout the restaurant. At this point all of the employees are opening all of the windows and ensuring the guests that everything is fine and that this occasionally happens. Power out? I'm not mad I've eaten in worse conditions. I just feel sorry for the poor souls in the dungeon eating area below me. We eventually have our entire party reseated to the outside dining area. As I make my way through the restaurant, and through the dungeon with my drink in hand I can't get over the fact by how dark it is. Are the owners afraid of light? Is that why they open at 4:30? Is the ghost of the place playing games with us? By the time we settle outside our food arrives. At this point I'm excited. No power? Whatever, as long as the food is good I'd eat inside a cave. So I'm pumped for my $31 grilled salmon...and it arrives...and my god it is the most average looking plate I've seen on this side of a Denny's. I PAID $31 FOR THAT? My food was served on a basic ass plate, with a scoop of microwaved garden rice, and dishwasher salmon with some grill marks on it. If you've been to any diner and got tenders and fries, that's what the presentation of my $31 salmon looked like. That's when it dawned on me why the lighting is so damn dark. They don't want you to see how atrociously cheap the food looks. I guess if you close your eyes any meal could be 5 star right? Management seems to think along those same lines. The rest of my party didn't fare any better. My wife's $41+ steak looked like baked potato, my father in-law's shrimp was straight up burnt on one side and they had the gall to cover it up by presenting the un burnt side. My friend is a steak house connoisseur and he straight told the whole table--with the waitress present--that the pork chop was ass. Our party wasn't even mad that the power went out, we were mad at how below average the food was. In the end our bill came out to $500+. I was hoping for some sort of free desert or something for the power failure, but it's whatever. I honestly I would've rather payed the $25 cancellation fee and drive my ass down the street to Denny's for a better meal. If you're thinking of coming here do yourself a favor--save yourself the disappointment and your money, and eat somewhere else."

"All of our food was delicious; but, the pad thai was the best I have ever had. Service was friendly and attentive and the pruces are good. I can recommend Royal Thai confidently."
