"Really excellent food. got takeaway from here last week for the first time and will definitely order from here again in the future. I notice that the most common negative review points here are about mistakes with orders or about food being too spicey or oily. I can only speak to my limited experience, but we had a large order and everything was exact. Our food was not too oily compared to other indian restaurants we've been to in Markham, and the only dishes that were very spicey were the ones we asked to be that way."

"Such great Pakistani food, excellent service and the staff are so wonderful and welcoming. The owner sat with us for ages and shared his experience of Canada to us as tourists. He also gave my husband free kebabs and my daughter a lassi. Dishes were spicy but delicious. Highly recommended."

"Toronto is peppered with Indian and Pakistani restaurants, Kabab joints abound round every corner. Some are so temporary that they are closed even before the paint dries. It is nice to see that this small restaurant in Markham has been going on for many years now. It is a tribute that it still does well without any overall publicity, reviews etc. And no branches. They have just two things going for them. Their food and again their food. The restaurant itself is quite small. Just a dozen well appointed tables which you will find are generally occupied while people wait outside for their turn at good food. The staff does not hurry you out and the food when served is piping hot and fresh. So what's new about their food? A lot of people get confused about Indian cuisine and Pakistani cuisine. There are at least 300 different Indian cuisines so to bunch them under one label is unfair. The same goes for Pakistani cuisine. What goes under the popular notion of Indian and Pakistani cuisine here in North America are hot curries and Kebabs. But Afghan Kababs and Kashmiri preparations are vastly superior. The most popular cuisine which is served in North America is the cuisine which comes from Delhi and Lahore, both sister cities in terms of cuisine. The food from this belt is unique with its Nihari, Brain dishes, Marrow dishes, Paya (Trotters), Biryanis and their Nans. The meat has a flavour of its own not found in dishes from Karachi or Afghanistan.Fahim sticks to the traditional dishes of these twin cities and is faithful to the individual taste that comes from here. Their Paya is to take a trip back to Chandni Chowk, their Brain Masala cries of Lahore and you can smell Delhi in their Biryanis. Not expensive, good food and good service, the best thing about Fahim is that it has none of the trappings of a restaurant. You feel like home when you start to tuck in to their food and the first taste transports you straight to your mothers kitchen.Go to Fahim if you miss home, go to Fahim if you crave good simple food."

"The authenticity of food in this restaurant was oversold! My partner and I had heard many raving reviews of this eatery. Pictures of beautiful decor and neatly dressed plates of food convinced us to dine there on New Years 2016. However we were thoroughly disappointed with the food and the pricing as it didn't reflect the quality that should have been served. So first I'll start with the plus points that give this review a three star which is the service. The wait staff were just excellent! Kind, responsive and so neatly dressed which added to the ambience of the place. Our server whose name I don't know was just wonderful. He made every effort to suggest options and to check in to see if we were comfortable. So for that I'll give it full marks. But the rest of the experience is where it goes downhill. The portion sizes for appetizers were ridiculous and over priced. We ordered the pot stickers which although were somewhat tasty ended up being oily and expensive. Only three pieces of which the edges were pastry drowning in oil that was almost 8-9 dollars a plate! Next spicy chennai poutine. I get the idea of mixing the all famous Canadian poutine concept with south Indian food and yet it was a complete miss on this one. The fries were soggy and covered in oily curry. Again for the portion size on this too small and shouldn't be served on a banana leaf. Next the mains that we ordered which was two chicken gravies and three types of biryani: mutton, chicken and seafood. They were awful! I understand that Chettinad cuisine deserves a certain level of spice and heat...but it is how those spices are integrated into the biryani that counts. These rice dishes were just atrocious! Over spiced and lacking flavour depth! True Chettinad cuisine offers a delicate balance tang and spice . This biryani was just hot! You might as well have drowned the rice and meat mixture in double roasted curry powder. That is not how chettinad biryani is made! The chicken gravies weren't too bad. They were tasty and the consistency was good. By the end of it we ordered two of the pot stickers apps, one poutine, three biryanis, two chicken gravies and a lassi and our bill came out to a whopping 181 dollars with tax and tip. We did go as a group of 6 so it was a lot of food for a lot of people but by the time we reached home we had to make three bathroom stops because the food was just way too spicy. As a seasoned diner whose lived in India and eaten authentic Chettinad food I almost wonder if the food here is an interpretation of Babu's take out meets Karaikudi ? Chettinad is known for spice but not heat! I do commend the effort to invest and create a sit down space in Markham. Land doesn't come cheap and neither does staffing but the biggest investment in a restaurant is the quality and thoughtoutness of food. If we are to interpret a type of cuisine then it wouldn't be fair to treat it as authentic. Overall the experience was three star because of the food experience but the restaurant itself is beautiful with kind front line wait staff and I'm sure hard-working kitchen staff."

"The food was good and so was the service. Try the non-vegetarian cuisine which is really good here."
