"We were in the west side of the city to enjoy a nice evening walking in Assiniboine Forest and afterwards realized we were really hungry! So we looked for nearby open restaurants and found Spice Circle East Indian Restaurant, which I'd never heard of or been to before. We decided to stop in for a couple of appetizers and a Thali platter. The menu is a Manchurian Indian menu with approximately half vegetarian and half meat items. Meat items include chicken, lamb, goat and even to our surprise, shrimp biryani!I got the goat thali, and found the curry to be delicate and well-seasoned, although we could have got the hot instead of the medium and still been okay. The same was true of my dinner partner's platter... delicate meat that fell apart at the slightest touch of a fork. The platter included rice, salad, yogurt, the selected meat curry and two vegetarian curries of the day. Today it was black lentil with kidney bean and a paneer. It also included a gulab jamun for dessert and a basket of naan bread. This platter was $14.99 and will likely fill up most diners, though if you are super hungry add on an appetizer like a samosa or pakora and you are sure to leave full!We got drinks, pakora, samosas and the thali, which came to approximately $30 per diner for a full meal with everything you would want: veg, rice, bread, meat and flavorful vegetarian curries. The prices are good and fair for the food amount and quality.I got a mango lassi, which was flavorful and nicely blended, and my dining partner had a pomegranate juice which she enjoyed. Next time I plan to try the appetizer platter and the chai tea and perhaps some of the a la carte menu items, which looked delicious too. If I changed anything about the menu, I would like to have the option to get mint chutney with the paneer pakora.By far the surprising winner of the experience was the naan which was delicate and crispy, lovely bread. I would enjoy a menu item being just a wrap with naan and a curry filling for a lunch meal. The restaurant has two seating spaces, a main one and then a private one, so it looks like a big party could be hosted here if someone were to book it. The outer venue has a collection of beautiful paintings from local artist R. Lana, and played soft music. The lighting was bright and clear and it was easy to hear my dining companion. I wouldn't describe it as an intimate venue if you wanted to bring a date here, but it is a good place for you to come with your family. Lots of space, and it would be easy to adjust how many people can sit at a table to accommodate a larger party. The decor has a retro diner feel to it.Getting into the restaurant involves either stepping up a fairly high curb or following the entire strip mall from the slope, which would involve passing a garbage can which narrows the sidewalk. The door does not have an automatic door opening button. So for someone who is coming with a wheelchair or a large stroller, it would be good if you have a party member with you to get the door and possibly help you up the curb so you don't have to squeeze past the garbage can that is between the restaurant entrance and the strip mall sloped access point. The restaurant bathroom is a single wheelchair accessible room with a baby change table.Spice Circle is open until 2am currently, and looks like they do a lot of takeout business. But I recommend stopping in if you are in the area, the staff are friendly and the presentation of the meal is good.Vegetarian options: About half of the menu items are vegetarian. There are vegan options too, mostly you'll just be avoiding the paneer in that case.Dietary restrictions: Menu options exist for vegetarian, gluten free, but not halal.Parking: Lots of free parking right out front and if the lot is full, there's lots of nearby street parking too. There's also major bus stops nearby.Kid-friendliness: A reasonably kid-friendly venue, it isn't loud or full of people drinking and the tables can be adjusted to accommodate a stroller. There is a baby change table"

"Been a customer since Clay Oven first opened. When you consider the smaller servings, it 's always been a bit more expensive than the majority of Indian restaurants, however the taste, service, atmosphere, and the wonderful owners made it worthwhile. Unfortunately that 's no longer the case; the proces are now too expensive for the aforementioned to make up for it, and now it 's a dated atmosphere, and the bathroom is even a bit grubby and needs some maintenance (leaking faucets etc).Example:Two small adults(each under 150lbs), we each had one drink(total $14), shared an appetizer($14), ordered three dishes, and two orders of naan. The leftovers will only feed us one more meal, and the bill was over $110. We have no issue spending that amount on a meal on date night, but Clay Oven just isn 't worth it. Yes, I 'm taking into consideration the fact that Covid made restaurants food costs skyrocket. The server said here is your complimentary rice when she set it down, so I feel like they 're doing whatever they can to make their customers feel as though they 're getting a decent value, short of offering a decent value. If you aren 't aware, rice is always included with Indian dishes, naan is usually included as well, but our four pieces of naan cost $6.40.The food and service is still fantastic though."

"They serve you leftover biryani if you go during weekdays. Twice I experienced it. Also, you can tell its a left over Biryani since the rice are from the bottom part of utensils and literally overcooked and hard to chew. Overall food quality would have been rated well only if made freshly throughout the week. Not recommending unless they fix the issue."

"One of the best Pakistani halal food in town. If you like kabab style food, you should try this. Though due to COVID restrictions, indoor dinning is restricted, I liked their indoor decoration."

"This restaurant is always a "go to" place when I visit Winnipeg. We had wonderful service and the food was outstanding. The decor is lovely. The moment you walk in the place you are hit with the most delicious aroma. I highly recommend this dining experience to any East Indian food lover."

"The butter chicken and parkoora curry in the Non-Vegetarian Thali were so hot that I could barely taste the flavour. Even when we used yogurt to cool it down my mother and I had a very hard time eating it. Ive ordered from here before and the food was excellent... not sure what happened. Big shout out to the Mango Lassi. Ive never been so greatful for a drink in my life. That drink gets 15/10. The Garlic Naan was awesome. I havent had the Samosa yet but im sure it will also be good."

"We ordered Tandoori Chicken Tikka , it was awesome but the quantity was way too less for $15 priced dish. Also we ordered Chicken Biryani it was good but again the quantity was not worth $19. Hopefully the restaurant gives more quantity ."
