"We have been touring Spain and Portugal for the past 10 days and this was by far the most disappointing meal we have had. We are staying at the hotel for the night, rated as 5 stars here in Portugal, thus we hoped that eating at the hotels restaurant would be good. Unfortunately this was not the case. While the portions were large, the food itself was heavy handed to use my wife 's term and lacking any subtlety. I had the mushroom soup and it was watery and lacking in taste. Bland would be a good adjective to describe it. I then had the duck magret for my main and it came much too well done for my taste. It was accompanied by lemon rice which was seasoned to the point that it tasted like a lemon. No good. My wife had chestnut soup which we also have to say was bland. She had grilled octopus with mashed potatoes. One piece of the octopus was fine, the other piece was fishy tasting and tough. The potatoes were under seasoned and heavy. Thistle cake for desert was fine. On the plus side the staff were pleasant and attentive and a glass of the house red was very good. The whole meal was only 61 euros so I can 't feel too bad but it was very underwhelming. I could not recommend this restaurant to anyone expecting somewhat of a gourmet experience. On the plus side, we are off to Lisbon tomorrow and I am sure we will find fine food there."
