"The roti (first on the menu under Roti) was completely soft and butter-like and paired perfectly with the curry sauce. The Nasi Lemak and the Mee Goreng were delicious. Exactly the right amount of taste. The chicken was really well fried. The price was really cheap. Grief Highly recommended, will be back next time when we visit Sydney."

"Blink and you could miss this place above the prince center at Haymarket just above the dumpling and menya noodle place on street level. The ambience of the place was very nice layout and setting. I'm a big fan of southern Thai food and decided to try and get something different to the usual green chicken curry, pad thai or chilli chicken jam with cashew nuts. I decided to try the kanoon keen gang gai with noodles chicken green curry and choko. There is a salad bar to get extra vegetables to accompany this dish which had carrots, spring beans, bean sprouts, coriander, cabbage and red chillies. The waitress was nice and attentive but not pushy to get the order. The dish came out promptly I must say the curry was very spicy but enjoyable and chicken was moist and tender but had some bones as I thought it was boneless. The noodles was nice and soft as well and the choko tasted quite sweet. They even have a dessert bar with ice cream if you still have room in your... <a class="read-more" href="#">read more</a>"

"In this place, food served very quickly and tasty too. I consider this as cheap eat for Thai as the dishes are start from $4 and quite good serving. Every time we go to this restaurant, I always like to order beef boat noodle soup. Highly recommended. The soup is really good for winter season especially and full of flavour."

"Very few Asian/Indian/Thai restaurants actually dare to push out the boat and keep true to truly “Authentic food” in the West.As much as they would love to cook and present Asian food with their original levels of spice and heat levels, the fact remains that they would be then left with only a core group of customers. However the reality is that this group sits on an extreme of the bell curve and is a small number and it is really the moderates, who like the thought of eating at an “Authentic Asian food joint” but can handle only watered down spice contents, that constitute the majority. It is this majority that keeps most restaurants profitable by repeat orders. Why this lengthy introduction? Most restaurants for obvious reasons, prefer repeat customers and so will do all they can to preserve an “Authentic” label, however when it comes to the food, they chicken out and add copious amounts of yoghurt or water or cream to dilute the effect of the spices.Either that , or they just go down the tried and tested route of “Westernising the menu” which means minimal oil/frying/spices.And in the process become boring and bland..Very few actually stick to the original and native formula and keep the food unaltered and it takes a hell of a lot of time to find a restaurant that has the courage to stick to the authentic stuff. This is where Petaling stands out.No fancy décor just basic tables and benches/chairs, no silly decorating or arranging food in fanciful patterns on the plate. This is street food at its most authentic where the ethic is just “Am hungry, will eat” and so there isn’t the time or inclination to discuss food formations on a plate. For those of you who would like to discuss food and appreciate the ambience while sipping costly wine, head to my review on “The Aria” another restaurant, great food and décor. But all ye core food grubbies who actually love to eat crazy fire cracker spiced truly authentic Asian food, go to the Petaling. There is the most delicious meat curry with Parathas and a dozen dishes of fish served floating in a curry base and expect to sweat profusely while slobbering away and enjoying the spicy fish and rice. There is no shortage of choices with the mains and it will take a while to figure out the menu. The only let down is in the desserts.Naturally after eating a shed load of spice and oil the next urge would be to down some desserts.Which are a let down here as there are a few desserts of which I forget the name, but at best they are relatively tasteless and instead of having dessert at this place,I would head outside turn right on George Street and go to one of the cafes and get some chocolate cake. However apart from the disappointment with the desserts, the mains and starters more than make up."

"Just like what my title says, the food they provide here is very good. The most authentic original of Asian food, especially Indonesian, Malaysian Singaporean Malay food. Nothing could get this close. Nowhere else in Sydney can you find something of similar quality. It does help a lot that the owner is Malaysian so the Asian food served here is nothing but original recipe. They also allow takeouts. The only con is that the food is very expensive for something of an above average dinner place. However, you can 't expect much, considering It Is Sydney is very hard to find Asian food anywhere else. For example, the 'Roti Canai ' (flour bread) set costs AUD$15 which I could otherwise get at just AUD$2 back in Asia. The good thing is that the chicken curry portion that complements it is huge delicious. Drop by once in awhile, you 'll be surprised at how good the food here ignites your taste buds."
