"After months of self isolation due to it was literally a breath of fresh air to have all the restaurants open up again in our community. And our first foray out into the world of Okanagan cuisine was this little, hole in the wall...eatery off of Hwy Well known to locals as one of the best Mexican restaurants in town, I made the unintended mistake of wearing my Colombian soccer jersey into the premises to the chagrin of the Mexican-Canadian staff... but the Colombian-Canadian was overjoyed. OK... actual Latinos running the joint... thumbs up. And because of the authentic ethnicity of the ones running the joint, the food was equally authentic. High praise for the enchiladas with a wonderful and tasty sauce accompanying the large enchiladas themselves. However, we had one dish with a skimpy side of sour cream and guacamole... and no salsa. Sour cream is sour cream but the guacamole was a little bland. I would have preferred more lime. And to be able to have more without asking for it. But as I have said, the mains were expertly done. Service was good to an extent. Understand this is set up as a cafeteria style restaurant so one has to fetch their own cutlery and water although the cooked dishes are brought to the table with a smile. Similarly, it is expected to clear ones own dishes when done and put them in the dirty dish bucket. Interestingly, with the recent pandemic inspired cleanliness mantra, I was surprised to see little of it here. Communal trays for cutlery and communal water jug and cups stacked for anyone to fetch. Doesn't bother me any but others may find it disconcerting. Price is on the low end which make the value here quite high. Good food and plenty of it at a very reasonable price. Don't expect quality service nor quality decor and ambience. But if all you desire is home cooking Mexican style then this is the place. Note: anyone who has been to Casa Maria in Sayulita, Mexico. The food here is almost as good"
