"Our Princess cruise excursion out of Mazatlan stopped for lunch at this restaurant in Concordia. We placed our orders with the tour guide on the excursion bus, probably to save time! Our choices were chicken fajitas, beef fajitas, or some sort of cheese meal, we couldn 't understand exactly what that was! Anyhow, we all chose the chicken and hoped for the best. The restaurant is located down a street behind the beautiful old church in the middle of Concordia. Reasonably clean and cute, with square wooden tables and clunky chairs, a semi clean unisex restroom with a sign not to put toilet paper down the toilet. Typical Mexico plumbing requires used toilet paper to be thrown into an open waste basket next to the toilet. But I digress! We could have one beer, one soda, or one margarita. Our chicken fahitas came promptly, since all orders had been called in from the tour bus. Chicken was tender and tasty strips, stir fried with strips of onion, lightly seasoned and not greasy. Corn tortillas were served in a tortilla warmer. Sadly, no guacamole or sour cream was to be found, but we had runny refried beans and a clump of blah tasting rice to complete our plate. Waiter was young and nice, but rushing to serve a busload of people all at once. For dessert, he plunked down small plates of banana pie, which was mediocrely tasty, no whipped cream, just baked bananas with a wheat crust, strange. We didn 't pay because the lunch was included in the price of our ship excursion. Small town ambiance here in this little restaurant and a sign on the wall read Est. 1881 , which would make the El Granero restaurant 136 years old, a piece of history which you should see if you are visiting Concordia, Mexico."
