"A great little hole in the wall in Chinatown, Kura is excellent for satisfying any type of Japanese food craving. Their menu is extensive and varied, covering everything from sushi and sashimi, to bento, to ramen, to udon, to curry, and many more. <br>

You order from an iPad (great for introverts like myself! ????) and service is generally quite prompt. Staff are friendly and attentive and whenever I've been, the restaurant hasn't been too busy. <br>

I ordered the unagi don (eel rice bowl) which came with salmon sashimi, udon noodles, sweet potato in a caramel sauce and then a small salad. For those that are a little freaked out, I highly recommend trying eel! It has this beautiful, sweet flavour that works really really well with teriyaki sauce. The eel was cooked to perfection and was an absolute joy to eat. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, and the udon noodles came in a lovely fish broth with nori. "I bought a CUDO deal for $49 for 2 people. It included 2 x glass of wine/ beer , to share: endamame, chicken karage, tofu and seaweed and avocado salad, tempura prawn crunch roll and miso soup. Then 1 x main each whuch couldve been...chicken/ salmon teriyaki, wagyu beef udon, assorted tempura. The value was exceptional. The food was so yummy and the location and atmosphere placed you in the middle of Darling Quarter. I will definitely return here. The staff were also helpful and very friendly and polite."

"I arrived before the lunchtime queue and wasn't sure what to make of it but I was impressed with the friendly service and the bao were delicious. I had two crispy tofu but the people served after me raved about the pork crackling on theirs. The sweet potato fries were very good too. $15 for two bao and the fries. I'll go back"

"Cant believe this place hasn't been discovered yet, but don't think it will be long. You can't make food this good and not remain under the radar for too long. Anyway, onto the food. We live in the Cross and many of our local friends...had said you have to try this place, its quite nondescript and you can't really see much from the street as you need to walk up to the balcony area then around to the restaurant. My Husband and I sat outside with our two friends, the restaurant was practically empty which concerned me as that usually means the food won't be great. Oh how wrong I was. We ordered the deluxe sashimi and some tempura vegetables and Korean chicken. The sashimi was massive and great to see a wide range with far more than your standard tuna/salmon/kingfish trio we had squid, prawn, caviar and a few varieties of white fish too really fresh and cut beautifully so as not to damage the flesh. Tempura vegetables were fresh and crunchy with a light batter, and the Korean chicken a great flavour. All in all, a lovely meal and I'm so happy this place is just around the corner. I selfishly want more people to find out about this place so that it stays open and readily available for me! Go check it out, you won't be disappointed."

"Stopped here for a coffee and asked for a espresso, 'double? ' she said.. must not have been looking to sharp.. It is tony 's estate coffee and thus pretty easy to drink. Great for that pick me up. I also got a cute little christmas cupcake with a wreath on it. If you 're up for something more substantial, they have pre made sandwiches, or made to order as well as all day breakfasts. Staff were pretty stressed as it 's very busy at the shops but certainly nice and my order came fast."
