"This is an academic exercise since I learned that Blacktail is closing on Saturday, Jan. 11. I went to hear (and see) the band that's been playing there on Sunday nights for over 3 years. Although the personnel varies slightly week to week, the musicians are all my friends. While you can hear the band (if possible over the crowd noise) anywhere in the room, you can only see them from a couple of tables. Mine was not one of them. I've never been fond of the menu, but the music has kept me returning (and I live 160 miles away). The plates are small and the selection not too varied. For the type of cuisine presented, I guess it's good; it's not just my type."
