"Another lunch at the Byford Tavern on our way down south. We stop here regularly because the food is great. I had Catch of the Day. Pan fried crispy skin barramundi sitting on creamy mash. Lots of just cooked green vegetables and a generous splash...of a buttery crab sauce. $32. This was a very rich dish it was only the crab sauce that made it rich but very lush. I’m not a fan of crispy skin on fish, but even after removing it there was more fish than I could eat. It was perfectly cooked and very fresh. The vegetables were to die for and the crab sauce was just a little sweet and made the whole dish. There was more of everything than I could eat. This is not the first time I’ve had Catch of the Day at the Byford and I’ve never been disappointed. Whoever is responsible for this dish certainly understands buying and cooking fish. I’ve paid more than $40 at some Perth restaurants for a piece of average fish and a few pieces of potato, then paid $15 on top for a small plate of vegetables or a side salad and I’ve never enjoyed the meal as much as Catch of the Day at the Byford. My daughter wanted something light and fresh so ordered the Thai Chicken Salad. She was disappointed with the huge bowl of stir fried chicken and noodles in a thick sweet sauce, topped with some cucumber and cherry tomato. She ate about a third and the staff were happy to box up the rest for her to take home. I was very happy with the reheated contents for dinner. It was delicious, just not what she wanted for lunch. All in all, The Byford Tavern is great value for money."

"The propaganda led us to believe that we were going to a reasonably up market well appointed establishment. While it was not either of the two aforementioned, it was not all that bad. It was noisy, big, with fairly ordinary tables and chairs. The menu...however, was pretty good. Two of us had pork belly (not enough gravy, and crackling rubbery), one had pork hock (again not enough gravy) and I had Holstein schnitzel, again not enough gravy and a lack of garlic. Altogether, reasonably good food, but nothing better than pub food. The big negatives about this place was the noise (we could not hold a conversation at our table), and the fact that we had to line up to order our food and drinks, and given the number of patrons who arrived in busses, ordering could take some time. Try the place, you may enjoy it, especially if you live in a lifestyle or retirement village. We were a little underwhelmed."

"We were so happy to walk in and find a lovely feeling venue. It wasn't too cold, which is often a factor for us as my mum is prone to pneumonia. It wasn't too hot either just comfortable. Was a pleasant crowd and tables weren't so close together that you could hear everyone's conversations which is a blessing, neither did it mean people were squeezing behind and through our chairs to get to the bar or to order food another bonus. Chairs were comfy enough to fit my wide bum. Prices of food and drinks was really affordable we had three main meals two alcoholic drinks and one soft drink for $82.00. The food was large size serves but amazing quality too absolutely loved every thing we ordered and will definitely be returning. Lastly the service was efficient, professional, friendly and we couldn't be happier."
