"Also dropped in here for a quick lunch and coffee - a bit of solitary self indulgence - on my last day of hols before the return to work. And I had been 'coff-coff-blergh' in bed for the past week so felt I needed something noice to show for my time off...'Feed a cold.. ' !The warm chicken 'yellow' curry was very satisfying and quite innovative with generous handfuls of pistachios and cashews and cubed ...pumpkin ? ..(apologies, dear chef) to complement the possibly over-generous helping of chicken chunks over saffron rice. I did try hard to enjoy it politely, without too much semblance of eager gobbling. Unhurried, I sat scribbling nothing much or making banter with a nearby brunching couple and with the chefs and wait staff. My coffee and cake soon arrived and a siimple cakery choice was delivered to my table as a breadboard cake+nuts+splotch of double cream+drizzle of forest fruits and strawberries.. and slived watermelon extravaganza. In gastronomic bliss, I then noted the blackboard advert for their Friday night banquets. A few quick enquiries with staff then immediate phone calls to pals and I booked for 5 people that night, @ the very bon marche price of $40 pp and BYO. They take only 20 folks per night - one looong table.Well I know that 'prices are subject to change' etc, etc, and some time has since elapsed.. But 'run, don't walk..' to give Ls&Ls a try - esp. the Friday night banquets... if they last ! I don't how how they did it for the price. The advertised 3 (that's THREE !) courses in fact comprised breads/ canapés + 7 (that's SEVEN) platters of subsequent food (Mediterranean Feast, viz: roast lamb hunks/ warm green bean & fetta salad / roast caps, courgettes, peppers, aubergines, olives/ roast trad vegetables / mussels / couscous & olives & raisins ? salad / and .. I forget ). All 7 were x 3 large platters, sufficient for the table of just 20 lucky diners. Many platters went ruefully unfinished.. one can only eat so much !We all then sipped feebly at drinks or adjusted our belts a tad to prepare for the dessert course of a delicious tart with accompanied pear and sauces.. served AFTER a cheese and fruit platter !! Coffee /tea was unsurprisingly (by now ) also complimentary. Our thoroughly enjoyable night was only topped off for me, by the presentation to my son with Downs - a very fussy eater - of a 'one off' , specially made, 'his favourite' panacotta - which I had barely mentioned at my lunchtime enquiry and which was not on that night's menu. Above amd beyond, and it was gratefully dispatched.Management and staff at Ls&Ls have quite a back-steet gem on their hands for casual daytime dining or refreshment. And they have created a vibrant Friday night event in Olde Morpeth village to savour and anticipate. If only they could count, they may stay in business.."
