"What a great find! We had an early dinner here before attending the Versailles waters show. The wine (Cheverny rouge and blanc), the smoked chicken starter, and our mains (the dorade is pictured) were delicious, though the fish dish and veggies could have been more seasoned. Excellent cherry clafoutis. So many choices I could easily see coming here on my next visit to Versailles. Great service too."

"First, the restaurant is on palace grounds, so the most convenient restaurant if you want to take a break from walking the rooms, gift shop, main buildings. The other restaurants in the gardens of Versailles are a tram or long walk away, so if it's...raining, it's a pain. Second, it's real deal Alain Ducasse and not a bad interpretation. The service is what you should expect attentive, exact, and accommodating especially since it is the more expensive place there to eat. The clientele when we visited seemed more a mix of older patrons and business people (men in suits on a client lunch). I felt like we were the only ones in sneakers (which you totally need walking the grounds of the palace, it's muddy in many places). We didn't look disheveled but we weren't wearing suits. The food was perfect and was the highlight of the visit to the palace actually. It was a bit decadent to have a completely civilized non-tour group type meal as a break. We were with my teen kids, one of whom is picky. They accommodated him with a simple roast chicken which was so good we wanted some ourselves. We went in late June, and at the time of Covid, the only bathrooms at Versailles for visitors were porto-potties or public outdoor restrooms which aren't the most horrible. But, lunch at Ore with a real bathroom to freshen up after a rainy walkabout on the grounds was really welcome. Lunch service isn't the fastest, but timed well. Just don't expect to leave in min. The lunch is mostly pre-fix, so remember to add time for dessert."
