"Ok, some of us know that Tulum has some of the most exquisite gastronomical propositions in the Mayan Riviera. However Mexican restaurant are very scarce. In town I had lunch in Suspiro and wow these dishes are full of flavor we had the Chile relleno...of seafood and the ribeye steak. portions were ample and the cocktails are made with real fruit I mean it's a restaurant without the cuisine flair and the high prices. In other words this place is my number one Mexican restaurant in Tulum highly recommended."

"We stopped here to have a post snorkeling meal and it was so good and cheap! very nice server and clearly a family restaurant. ask for the habanero salsa we ate it with a spoon! victor was our waiter who was bilingual. we enjoyed talking to him English and Spanish and he made our experience even better. he was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the menu. one must try, is the mixed kewitsche and get the size they want to eat more!"

"This little vegan spot was cute and tucked away creating such a calming vibe. It was raining so we stopped in to grab lunch and it did not disappoint. The broccoli soup was sooo good even though it was warm out. The chile ancho (rather than poblano) was unique and flavorful. The mushroom burger was also unique, but worked perfectly as a burger and the sauce that came on the side of the burger was amazing! The waitstaff and owner were both very nice."

"This place does the best breakfast and lunch, it's a local place, cheap, no frills, amazing food. I'd recommend sopes, panuchos, salbutes and the carne asada though everything is really good."

"Although we are originally from the US, we are residents of Mexico. We have had several dinners at Don Cafeto over the past several months. It is/was a really good restaurant, with excellent choices and excellent live music. We liked it enough to take visiting family and friends here on a regular basis. However...THAT STOPS AS OF TONIGHT. We took some friends here tonight, ordered our meals and all was excellent - until the checks came. On the bottom of the check, THEY ADDED A 10% SERVICE FEE. First of all, this is ILLEGAL in Mexico. Now, let me make this clear, this was not a hand-written addition, this was PRINTED BY THEIR EQUIPMENT. I showed him my residency card, told him I knew it was illegal, told him I was going to call PROFECO and he immediately started apologizing and said I only had to pay the "sub-total". He then quickly took the checks from us and walked away. I asked him for a copy of the check and he came back with a new one that didn't have the service fee added. I asked to speak to the manager, but he never got anyone and I didn't see one around. As a last insult to what would have been an excellent meal, he brought my change ($40 pesos) in...forty $1 peso coins. Really? I will be calling PROFECO tomorrow and we and our friends and families will no longer eat here. Really sad as this place had a lot going for it. Our friends that we brought with us here tonight are also residents of MX, so they will also be spreading the word about this. There are plenty of good restaurants who do things the right way - I don't need this place.TOURISTS: Do NOT allow restaurants to get away with this. THEY KNOW it is illegal and try to gouge unknowing gringos of an extra 10%. Is that a significant amount? No. But, that is missing the point. CHECK your receipts, call them out on this a contact PROFECO!If the owner or manager reads this, I would love to hear from you, but I have a feeling I won't."
