"A pretty standard health conscious spot with customizable bowl/salad options and a large, pretty restaurant space. Prices are on par with competitors, but Spyce tends to offer more Asian inspired flavors. This location also features a cocktail bar with drinks under $10 low for this area! Have not tried them yet, so cannot vouch. Spyce's claim to fame is that orders are prepared by machines instead of people. I'm personally very neutral about the automation feature. It feels gimmicky, especially when there is not a reduction in human labor. The store has the same amount of employees as peers, and while they are all very nice and friendly, they hand bowls out to customers, deal with complaints, and otherwise just stand there in between orders. I'm not sure what the purpose of automation is when a human is still washing/chopping the ingredients. Outside of how the food is assembled, it is pretty tasty. Ingredients are fresh, have the right texture (ie never soggy), and there are great options for those with dietary restrictions. I do feel that the menu options are not extremely extensive I'd love to see a wider variety of vegetables and non Asian sauces. If you're not a fan of coconut curries, miso, or sesame flavors, you might feel very limited by the menu. Spyce occupies a really large space in the Square but it is never filled. It's super cute and a great spot to meet with a group or get a little work done. Unfortunately, there is no wifi here but Harvard students can get a weak campus wifi signal. It's enough for writing papers but web pages load very slowly. I've been by a few times and I'm sure to come a few times more. While it's not extremely impressive or innovative by any means, it does deliver a filling and healthy lunch. Little note: right now Sweetgreen is doing a limited time popup in the space, so you're able to order a few of Sweetgreen's menu items. It seems to be a test of concept, so maybe Spyce will offer more Sweetgreen items in the future."
