"I would like to thank the staff of Thai Chiang Rai, Woden for a great lunch on Saturday, 28 November. I live in Brisbane and organised a lunch for 21 Canberra based friends to catch up for our Xmas get together. 18 adults, 3 kids, different tastes and eating issues etc. Not a problem. The manager/chef was fantastic. Spoke to us and aligned a banquet for 16, seperate dishes to suit others and chips for the kids. No worries and no stress. Yes we can. How nice to hear those words. Now, for those thinking of dining at a Thai restaurant inside a club as a risk, well, this gem inside the Woden Southern Cross Club, is Gold. The green chicken curry was one of the best I've had. The macadamia scallops, pepper prawns etc were all brilliant. Then to finish with your choice of dessert and coffee/tea of your choosing was unexpected and very appreciated. From mild trepidation to foodie bliss. I'll be back. Thanks Thai Chiang Rai, Woden"

"Sunday yum cha with family in the Hellenic club. early advised, sat immediately and tee and eat came out immediately. ingredient quality most noodle and bunny was pretty good, although little in the type of non-seafood options. everything was cleaned. or pork .would would have liked some plant objects. the selection is generally somewhat limited. that is to say, the fried squid and the bore shell were excellent, but a great failure in some of the items (especially the taro emptying), where the filling was fed, tasteless and went on the unpleasant. spring rolls were massifs with bad fillings up to baked parts. the cheung fan also rolls a disappointment...too loose and soft with hardly any boar filling in general a case of size over substance and overall a bit slapdash and amateurish. service was excellent. friendly and super prompt. In view of the quantity ordered and the variable quality, this was also not a bargain. probably worth looking elsewhere."

"I agree with what others have said - it is definitely not a restaurant to go to if you are looking for a romantic night out. The restaurant can be a bit noisy when you have a few people in there. It can be seen as good or bad depending on what you are hoping for (a bit of noise helps with the overall atmosphere). The waitress was very prompt in coming over and taking our order. We ordered the fish cakes and chicken satays for entrees - both were delicious. For mains - we ordered the lamb shanks, deep fried fish with veges in sweet and sour sauce, and chicken with chilli and basil. The lamb shank (yes there was only one) was ok - it wasn't tough but it certainly didn't feel right having lamb shank thai style. IMO the chicken was a little dry (not even sauce) but it tasted nice. I enjoyed the fish too (probably would have liked a bit more sauce too). We sat around for quite a while after we finished eating our mains chatting, waiting for the staff to clear our plates. No-one came at all which was rather disappointing. The restaurant wasn't full (about half full inside with no tables outside). In the end we just decided to leave - walked up to the counter, paid the bill and left. If they had come to clear the plates and asked if we wanted dessert, we would have stayed and possibly even ordered a coffee.Overall it was ok - definitely wouldn't be rushing to go back for dinner."
