"We were in Madeira a week ago staying in Calheta. We'd seen the reviews and thought we'd try this place. A good find. Sure there's places on the harbour that might be a bit showier, but this place just serves good honest food with a...good friendly service. What more do you want? The garlic bread was amazing, while my wife and myself shared a garlic prawns that were so fresh they almost swam to the table! My wife had the steak sandwich as she wasn't feeling too hungry! Wow what a sandwich with steak, cheese, ham, a fried egg and salad, all served with some really great hand made chips. I had the stefarda which had loads of garlic butter dripping off it, served with salad rice and chips! All washed down with a few beers! The service was really good and really friendly. If you want good local food this is the place to go. Get there now!!!!!"

"We were staying nearby and really wanted this to be a great place to eat so we didn't have to drive out all the time, but we found it ok but not thrilling. The view is great although our villa had similar. We had garlic...bread to start, full of garlic, great for me, not so much for my man. We both tried the espada fish, which came grilled with some form of coating. I wasn't a fan, maybe it was slightly overdone, but it could just be the fish itself, which is strong tasting and very firm. Chips and salad accompanied, both fine. All decent, but not compelling enough to lure us back during our visit we used the car to try other places. Lots of cats and kitties for entertainment."
