"Decided to test out Rocksalt for a brekky and dinner and had mixed results.Brekky was generous portions for eggs & toast, coffee was actually quite smooth and well prepared, would go back again for a coffee. Prices are a little more on the pricey side. Service was good, not exceptional always room to improve though. Dinner was disappointing. The salt & pepper calamari entree was quite tasty, well cooked and aioli had good flavour. Then the main came. Pork Belly. Was the worst pork Belly I've ever eaten. The veggies were done well, but the pork had good flavour bit fatty and not much meat. The crackling was like cardboard. No flavour whatsoever. And had no salt at the table to season. The service was some of the worst I've experienced. It was booked out-busy and to stand and wait for minutes on end to be seen by staff but not even acknowledged was disgraceful. Prices for meals are more so expensive than budget. Personally didn't feel this place provides good value for money overall."

"Well done guys for offering a great little spot, whether its for breakfast, lunch, snacks or just coffee or wine. I have visited on numerous occasions now for all of the above and have mostly enjoyed everything I have ordered (except maybe the spicy beef mini taco, as personally I found it a bit too sweet & not enough spice). On a Friday they have live music which at the time I visited was a tad too loud - as you could not converse easily with friends. However, pretty good music. Great wine/beverage list. I would like to see a few more tapas style selections on their menu but otherwise this place is probably one of the best in Gladstone - which is sadly lacking in this department."

"As Australia is an expensive country, this was one of the few "restaurants"/ cafes I went to in Australia.The staff was very friendly.I had a nice lunch in a quit atmosphere on 1st May on a sunny day! The prices are okay. If you consider the view, it was worth the money."

"It is with heavy heart that I actually write this report - we holiday @ South West Rocks every year & for the past couple of years we actually make a point of coming out to Gladstone for the day to enjoy the surroundings as well as having lunch/dinner at this beautiful Hotel. The last 2 years we have been deeply disappointed with the service of the restaurant - they always run out of their "specials". This year we asked what time does the restaurant/bistro close - 2.00pm - so us ladies went out for some boutique shopping - returned just after 12.00 but the CLOSED sign was put up for food orders @ 1.15pm! However after some persuasion we were able to order a couple of "dips" which were overpriced - it was inconvenient time as it was pouring rain & we were unable to go another establishment to order some lunch. Very disappointed we will not be making the trip out next year."
