"We loved this place when we first discovered it. The menu was refreshingly good. The dishes were made with care and the quality of produce was great. However the last 2 times we've been there, me and my partner find that the portions have reduced in size, especially the burger. The stack seems tall but the beef patty, buns and filling are skimpy. The chicken burger lacked flavour and had ingredients that just didn't seem to go well together - avo & mushroom. For the same pricing there are many cafes offering a much better serve - Cafe circa, Paper Plane cafe (Parramatta)."

"We dined with friends at the Palate Hotel just after Xmas. It was very quiet as you would expect between the Xmas and New Year break. On our first step in the door we were greeted and taken into the dining room, lovely décor and...atmosphere. We were very impressed as we weren't sure what to expect from the hotel The service was great and the meals very good. The menu advertised is what is available on site. We will definitely be back for more!"

"Must be a special kind of family they had in mind when they named this hotel: one whose members love to play the pokies, have a bet at the TAB and, naturally, have a few schooners at the bar. It is basically a suburban beer barn featuring a large public bar, an even larger betting area/TAB (as big as I have seen in a pub in a pub), a few pool tables, and a couple of lounges full of poker machines. These are the most luxuriously appointed part of the pub - and clever use of 'outdoors' design means you can smoke in one of them. And the kiddies aren't forgotten as there are a couple of those amusement machines with grappling arms, occasionally dispensing soft toys or chocolate bars. So, if you can handle that sort of environment - and the atmosphere that goes with it - there is actually a reasonable bistro at the rear of the pub. It is basic pub fare, with a strong Italian flavour to it, and meals are large and reasonably priced. Good value for money, though you might go hungry if you are a vegetarian. They also put on specials on several days of the week that are also excellent value: $8 pasta on Tuesday and $8 pizza on Thursday are two of them."
