"Every time we visit Sibiu, we make sure to visit Crama Ileana for a good, hearty meal of traditional Transylvanian cuisine. Frankly, it would be well worth it for either the great food or the beautiful decor but for both? It would be a shame...not to go there and to risk paying more for less somewhere else! This time, my partner had the ciorba de burte (tripe soup) with a side of sour creme and fresh farmhouse bread. This was followed by de-boned chicken breasts, tenderized after ordering (we could hear them battering away in the kitchen) and grilled on the charcoal grill, served with chips with melted cheese, salad and pickled cucumbers. I had a delicious vegetable soup made with cabbage, green beans, peas, potatoes, carrots, onions, tomatoes and lots of parsley, eaten together with more fresh bread. My main dish was a iahnie de fasole (a very filling bean stew with tomatoes, onions, red peppers, carrots, garlic, paprika, thyme and bay leaves), boiled potatoes with fried onions and a delicious varza calita (cabbage fried with onions, black pepper, bay leaves, thyme and paprika). The service was very good -fast, attentive and very professional. The atmosphere was wonderful and the prices were very reasonable indeed for such good food in such a lovely destination location. "Went there at lunch time on a weekday. The service was fast, the doner was tasty. They serve bigger portions than Dabo Doner in the city center. I hate the fact that they don't have proper ventilation and they keep the door open even if it's cold outside. You have to eat with your jacket on if you sit near the door."
